Phil Lamat wrote:Warp discussion, some questions :
1- what are those combos you're talking about (except 1+2 for warp level 10) ; for example how you get level 14 ?
the game gives this if you play way up there.
I think it was player-1 start, fire, and view angle down at the same time...which seemed odd cuz the player-1-start is view angle down.
Level 10 one was player-1 start and player-2 start at the same time.
2-if you enter transporter on level 3 for example, can you only go to level 5 (maximum 2 levels Des said) ?
if you are not pressing any keys...yes....with pressing keys...not sure...only tried that from level 1 transporter. easy enough to test though...
3-if you enter transporter after level 1, do you get same bonus as from level 1 ?
(too lazy to make the test myself)
nope...just the difference. If you go to 3 and warp to 4 or 5, you get 20000 bonus...not the 40000 you get from level 1 to 5.
4-transporter can only be used once a game, right ?
yeah, seems so cuz once you use one it never returns....even at level 27 etc. but don't use it...it keeps reappearing...tempting you to use it...hehe
I do the quick left loop on level 1 then get in it and reselect level 1.

Player1 start + Player2 start + Button1 = possible skip to level 15
I don't know where you found this number 14

Ok then, here is my proposal for special rules (if Tommi and everybody is ok, I will edit that) :
WARPING RULES :
You can enter a transporter (the game allows the use of it only once with 1 credit).
But YOU MUSTN'T USE ANY COMBINATION KEY WHEN YOU ENTER THE TRANSPORTER.
That means are allowed :
if you enter transporter on level 1, you can warp to level 1-5.
if you enter transporter on later level, you can warp a maximum of 2 levels.
Are not allowed for example:
entering transporter on level 1 while pressing "start1 + start2" (warp to level 1-10).
entering transporter on level 1 while pressing "start1 + start2 + button1" (warp to level 1-15).

Also be sure dipswitch "DEMO MODE" = "OFF".
If it's "on", you can enter transporter on level 1 and warp to level 1-79 !
Good for training but of course forbidden.
No problem if you use MAME 0.36 or later : "off" is the default.
(some inputs made with m36b11 has been DQ because default was "on" with this version)

Btw, is there any way to delete the entry in MARP? Better having nothing than that...
Click "edit", then turn short name "irobot" to "deleted".
And submit

Special rules edited.
You said nothing about Saru's technic on level 1. Allowed ?
I think we can allow it (not infinite, need to lose 1 life to get a 20k+ score, and risky also (I've tried and lose some lifes trying to get 500 pts).

It's ok imo...Saru's tactic.

Saru's tactic is OK in my opinion.
Hehe... I tried this technique myself in my 1st day of play. And I think is all OK here. However, I decided was "more advantage" to me to try learn/study the advanced rounds... and was it
But was very good to see someone putting this tactic on your best INP. Congrats!
About the special rule, the text is OK to me.
And... oh yes... just now I confirmed I was Top16

Surprising it hasn't come during k5 :
http://marp.retrogames.com/inp/a/2/e/g6 ... wolf97.zip
Trick is to enter transporter on later level (level 8 or 9 in the inp) then warp to ... level 0 = Doodle City !!
Once in Doodle City, then select "back to game" and you can go on starting again on level 1, which allows you to play twice each easy levels and get better score than in normal way, as shown on George Strain's input.
I've edit special rules to forbid warp to level 0 and avoid this trick (George agrees with me it belongs to the trick section) ; I've linked George's inp as an example in the special rules box.
Everybody's ok I hope .
I also add in special rules box the trick to warp to level 20 for Deca2k8 players, as ANY warp is allowed there :

Saru3000 Technic

I worked on statistics concerning the saru3000 technic on I,Robot.
I have posted it on TG cause i was playing TGTS.
I did 68K on first level twice but it is possible to do a lot more (maximum is around 130k but i think it will be as difficult as a 800K on shinobi).
I'll try to do a marp setting run latter cause it is a lot different from TGTS.

Saru technic 91K

I did 91k end of level 1 with Saru3000 technic and a final 902k TGTS.
It confirms 133K is possible end of level 1.
