I would gain a few spots if ranking is by the 10-3-1 system.
However, wouldn't this discourage many players that won't bother even submitting a score if it's not in the top 3? ..although I guess in most cases you likely would only be interested in watching the top couple.
I think it puts too much weight on 1st place though. If you have the top 3 scores all within a few percent of each other then the 1st place person doesn't deserve 3.3 times the credit of the 2nd place person and 10 times the credit of the 3rd place person just because they scored a wee bit more.
I like the LB points system.
...but perhaps you want a lower one cuz the version of mame used or platform used.
If you had alphamame for older versions of the mame code base and on all platforms then MARP could become 100% alphamame...only allowing that in new submissions. It could keep the older ones prior to 3/3/03...but remove all regular mame scores posted after that.
However, that day isn't here yet so oh well.

If so, all "blocked" score must be corrected.

Alphamame blocking was in effect from March 3, 2003:
viewtopic.php?t=10185&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30
until June 27, 2003:
viewtopic.php?t=10539&start=0
Any scores that were "blocked" during this period are correct (blocked).
No change at this point would be appropriate.

I disagree, all blocked scores should be unblocked as though alphamame never existed in the first place. Who's to say no one had a copy of a mame-alphamame inp 'converter' during this time which is the reason why the alphamame project was dropped.

That's not the point. The people using standard MAME could've just used AlphaMAME.

No converter existed during the blocking period.

I agreed with you. It's fair to correct blocked scores if this rule no more exist.

Too much work to change. I vote to leave well enough alone.
Some recordings were missed during that time period.
Delete certain old scores and/or record and submit over.

It's easy to see both sides of this.
However, I tend to lean toward...
During that time that was a rule at MARP. It was posted very clearly on the main page and the forums and even then if you checked your scores later after uploading them, if they were blocked the editor always posted why etc. All blocked could have easily then just played using alphamame.
They made the choice not to...so why shouldn't that suffer the consequences of the rule that was in effect then?
Those players are still welcome to submit new scores even now using regular mame that won't be blocked that will replace their blocked scores.

But what happens if they resubmit the same inp?
It won't be blocked now, would it?

interesting question there infacc....I'm guessing it wouldn't be. hehe
I agree that it would be a lot of work for editors to reverse these themselves. It was a big enough pain for the editors to block them to start with.
It seems it's in the control of the gamers. If they want their score unblocked it seems just perhaps resubmitting would unblock their score and take care of it.
However, if those scores were already confirmed then on resubmitting they won't show as confirmed so would need to be reconfirmed.
