Well, they are giving you their replay...just perhaps not uploading it immediately after they get a new high score. what's wrong with that?

I look at a contest like that like many other games. If you were playing poker, would you show your opponents your cards DURING the hand? Of course not, you will likely lose...and when you do win a hand not get a very big pot cuz all others would have folded.

I look at a contest like K3 similarly. If someone gives away their hand, then all they have done is reduce their chances of advancing.

After the hand is over sure....show your cards to all.

Yes, it's a difference of opinion...but would hope you respect and can at least at some small level understand the competitive nature of a contest like K3 and why some might choose to not share their hand with others until after the round is complete. Giving scores in a forum is one thing...and not really giving out your full hand like an inp does.

There are other samples at MARP already where you could view great play for the game...which should be good enough without demanding to see exactly how your competition exactly played boards.

telling the high scores at forum means nothing 2 me :(
whats the difference that i know that my opponent made a score of 1 mln or 2 or 3 mln??? would i play better with this knowledge???? dont think so :(
u play as good as u can
u trying 2 be the best :)

I agree to a degree wuzel...plus, how can you know for sure your opponent hasn't bettered their previously submitted or announced score? I don't think you can so if you sit on a score you have thinking it's good enough so you stop playing you might end up with a surprise in the end.

...so as you said..do your best...if you score more then you win and advance. it's that simple.

Thanks.

It's a poor sample because I died so many stupid deaths. I had a nice run of decoys, but the deaths...ugh.

Speaking of studying/watching INPs/tips/replays, I haven't done so in this tournament, I will continue to not for anything. Why? After watching an ESP.RA.DE. superplay that Gemant gave me, it absolutely ruined the game for me, and it has caused me to not watch replays... I'm trying to learn Ikaruga without any videos, such as the DVD, for instance. I have figured that I enjoy games more if I learn stuff on my own.

Well, I think most of the people on this site disagree with that stance... a lot of us love seeing games played to their full potential. I know I can't match something like 753 million on DoDonPachi, but I love watching it even if I can never reach that level of skill in my lifetime. And things like that can prove to be very educational, you might pick up on an easier way to beat a boss or a safe spot. Sure, it's great to figure these things out on your own, but sometimes you can only go so far that way, it's easier to observe things when you don't have to worry about the pressure of playing.

I dunno, it's your call of course, but if you have the resources available, then why not. I'm not too concerned with having shooters "spoiled" or anything.

Sure they are educational, but that's the worst part about them for myself. I continue to be at MARP because I know people like to watch that stuff; maybe they'll hopefully watch some of my stuff. The only other thing I use MARP for now is to compare my score against others.

And that pressure of playing, that's the best part of it for me. This summer I'll be working on DDP and DP (probably Ikaruga as well, but that's questionable) without any help, and I want to see how far I can get. I know people have figured out decent ways of chaining levels, but I want to figure that out all on my own, and I know I very well can, even if it takes me 100s of hours to do so. I know people have different views on this than I do.

Well, do you really want to spend hundreds of hours playing only those games? I know they are great shooters, but I tend to try out lots of games just to keep things fresh and not get burnt out on playing any one game way too much. But I can see where you're coming from... take Shock Troopers, that right there is the game I have probably played more than anything else in my life. I had to completely dissect that game on my own (mainly because nobody else gave a damn about it and it was impossible to find any in-depth information on it), so yeah I'm pretty proud of what I managed to accomplish on my own. But then there's Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad, I played the hell out of that and got my scores up to 14 million, and then I found out the Gamest record is 30 million... I thought I had the game pretty much entirely figured out but apparently I'm missing something. Any playing I've done afterwards hasn't resulted in a discovery of where these extra points come from, and I'm desperate to know. If there was a recording out there detailing how to get 30 million, I'd download it in an instant. I want to get the most possible out of the game and I've done all I could, I now want to see what I'm doing wrong.

That's it, I think I've said enough in this thread.
