Since there were not special rules undisputed leeching (that isn't directly in violation of the generic leeching policy) is still "allowed" untill a poll is made. Clearly destructor's recording is violating the generic leeching policy but since a poll is in effect we'll do the editing after a decision is made. Since there is no clear 66% winner here there will be another poll with the top two choices that exceed 66%, which look to be the two 5 life limit rules.
The leeching allowed rule you suggest francois will be automatically allowewd in xsleena if lifes are limited, but you can only do it for 5 times; so it will most likely require a finished game to maximize your points.

destructor had already long replaced his leeching run with a 5-man only run(think it was 5-man only). Mr. Bunny has 1st place for it now.Chad wrote:Since there were not special rules undisputed leeching (that isn't directly in violation of the generic leeching policy) is still "allowed" untill a poll is made. See earlier in this thread. Destructor even posted about it.

re...
A pity . This is another case where a game has been compromised by someone who knows how to leech a bit , and make the most of it .
What kind of incentive does an average player have to play this game , given that the top players have , or will , come to an arrangement whereby the ultimate outcome will only benefit those who are actual experts on the game ? And all because one of these experts showed how to leech on the game in the first place ?
A 5-man game ? That is SO shit , unless you are a real expert and have a good game . I finished this game after a lot of practice . I needed more than 5 men , as especially on the last wave , you may get screwed , and will need your surplus men to get by . This game now becomes a contest between master players , and gives no consideration to those who are not .
This to me , is another game ruined , all because of leeching . If you want to compromise , just simply allow leeching ( points maximising ) to a point were you must complete the level . If your time runs out ( accidently or not ) , and you can do it again , tough shit . Maximise to a point , and then carry on .
How's this for a scenario....a player finds MARP , likes to play Xain'd Sleena , only to find out that the game has been hi-jacked by experts and that even though he is a decent enough player , deems this to be not worth the hassle , and let's 'them' get on with it .
Where's the fun in that ? Granted , it will be fun and challenging for those who are involved , but not for others . I don't like the way MARP is going on this type of issue . How many other games are gonna go like this , i.e a private battle between expert players , with their rules / settings...etc.., and no consideration to players who want to play the game honestly just to finish the game ( e.g...me ) . Just because someone can leech ad infinitum should'nt ruin the game for other players . It's ruined for me , as it has become a battle of the Elitist's , and ruined for other players who are not in the same class as those who have/will agree on rules that only come about because of a demonstration of leeching ( pure leeching ).
I can see a future scenario where a lot of games will follow this path , and the whole thing will become shambolic .
MARP is for all levels of players . Not just the experts . Give others a chance . And remember , it was a blatant leeching example which started the whole thing .
Those are my thoughts at this moment in time .
Cheers,
AL

HAL: " It's puzzling . I've never seen anything quite like this before..? "
Alex, chalk that up to a game flaw then. Don't blame the gamers.
Anyone playing the game normally would have some degree of leeching.
If a skilled player played all the way through it as fast as they can odds are their score would be LOWER than someone that struggles but can also finish the game. They would be getting through stages slower and have more enemies to kill or would have killed more enemies versus the extremely skilled player just flying through the levels.
Would that be fair? No. Chalk it up to game design flaw.
Making it 5-man only...but allow the leeching within those 5-men, still makes the final score based on skill.
The average gamer you refer to shouldn't be able to finish the game anyway.
However, how much they score with 5-men versus however many men they maybe had from the older rules is likely a lesser difference versus the skilled player getting the top score....so overall that average gamer would be getting a higher percentage of the top score with the 5-man only rule even though they might not be able to get as far in the game and score quite as high as before. it's still better versus the decrease in score of the top players.
The only way to perhaps address games like this would be to say screw the scoring of the game, and make a special score rule based on getting certain #points for each wave/level/stage completed with bonus points for time remaining at the end of each stage. This system is the only way really to make it so leeching isn't a factor at all...since leeching extra enemies would require more time. Perhaps in this special scoring you could have bonus points at the end also for each man you still had left or subtract points for each death.
