I'll leave that up to the others. They don't, then I don't.

No, really, why was my reply so "interesting"?

And like what Wuzel and Buttermaker have said, the best player is the one that will (or should) end up winning. Being afraid to show an .inp because you think "patterns" will get out... if patterns are that much more important than skill, then the game is pretty flawed at determining who the best player is IMO. But that's another issue... what it boils down to is, do you really think it makes for a fun tournament if people are too scared to show their gameplay?

I think it is understandable that a tourney would be less than interesting if it came down to submissions only coming in the final moments of competition. Part of the fun of these types of tourneys is in the competition. The back and forth of it all. I think QRS's approach to this will only foster higher levels of scoring. This subject of "guarded" .inps has been beaten to death at TG. I am willing to go along with some compromise between nanni's suggestion (btw, a very nice suggestion) and some sort of required posting of scores. If not in the form of an .inp, then at least in the form of a message board posting.

For the current game, Reactor. I have two words for you to bring you to optimal scoring...."bounce chambers".

I also can't help but smile when I hear that the age of 31 makes one an "old man". Hoo boy.

u can belive me or not
i ve got 4 inps for pacmania (maybe 5 counting the first on at 230 000)
i was playing that game 400 times but maybe only 100 was a recorded tries :(
my scores were as follows: 317 630, 350 140, 399 690 and right after that 409 sth.
i was planing 2 post that inp at 350 140 but when i got back home at saturday qrs score was 357 000 or sth :( - so there was no reason 2 post my poor score only 2 show the correct path for example stage 3 (correct in my opinnion of course)
u can hate me or kill me my but this is the truth and i have no more 2 say

i dont have an inp for reactor yet but my scores is around 40 000 and sth - i posted this info at forum tommorow

IMO Pacmania is only patterns - skills are useful at jungle steps
i didnt get there :( patterns good memory a little bit of luck in gathering mosnter 2gether and u got a high scores
maybe if everyone was forced 2 play form level 4 it could be more interesting - but it history :)
i was scared becuase i dont like maze games specially pacman games and i knew that qrs is a very good player
when i saw his description "look at my zookeeping jump at stage 3" i thought that im out of K3.
i believe that using only this patterns qrs is able 2 made a score at aoubt 420 000 - his skills are ver good - jumping over monsters almost perfect.
during that week of k3-rd5 i learned the patterns for each stage almost prefectly and i was able 2 do it while i was playing a single stage. when it comes 2 put it together - bleh :(
but i was so determinated that i manage 2 even beat destructor which i thought is almost immposible :)

PS: final of k3: my tip form beggining

Patterns on pacmania? bleh I don´t use those! j/k :)

I more use semi patterns. I did not feel like breaking down the game into peices and make 100% pattern for the mazes. Actually I had no time to do that.

Anyway, let´s drop this subject now. I have nothing against anyone here, and people can do as they want. Just remember that MARP has always been MARP with inps etc, not just screenshots or posting scores etc. TG is a much better place if you wanna hold your recordings a secret :)

I wasn't saying keep it a secret...but just delay submission or perhaps in your words keep it a secret until the final few hours of the contest. Reval your score(s) in a forum thread like this but no need for others to view your inp DURING the contest.

A knockout/knockdown contest is separate from regular MARP scores. MARP is just used as a way to gather scores etc. conveniently.

Do you get on RonC for not distributing the inps from Deca submissions? Some of the Deca submissions are posted to MARP...but many aren't.
Reveal your scores during the contest fine....it isn't good to hide what you are scoring from the others. They shouldn't get the chance to watch your inp and just copy and slightly improve on what you did over the month to beat you out the last hour or so. IMHO that's lame. if you want to watch it after the contest fine...but not during the contest. IMHO that's equivalent to looking off someone else's paper for answers during a test.

After the contest fine...view other's inps all you want.

Rons deca has alwyas been open so other people can watch the firstplaces anytime. The only difference is the advanced deca this year.

And no, I would not have entered the deca in the first place if it was a 'secret' society. People can play like that if they want, but I want join.

Sorry. My opinion. And btw, Marp has always been open even during competitions. It is just the last year or so, that people start to be more and more secret about their scores. I don´t like that at all. If they want to be like that post a screenshot and the score on another site. This is a replay site.

Anyway, my opinion, but people does not have to agree with me.

but qrs how would u feel if u would find sth special in the game - dont know what maybe by luck or sth. u posted it and u got a minute of glory. sounds fine for me when posting at marp regular site ( i was curious like hell when i saw your desription about stage 3 :) is it my method?? or u discovered a new maybe better way??) but in tournament - dont think hat this glory moments are as much important as winning or sth u did a great thing u working hard by showing it 2 everybody your opponent simply makes the same and maybe your gone :(
i m not as much good 4 people as this could be :(
hard work must be well paid :)
