Maybe but 2 years ago the coach was a foreigner : french Luis Fernandez
Yes, there is a large tradition on foreign coachs in our team. Froml the begining with English coach till the last one (Luisito Fernandez :D we play the Champion League with this coach)

And Bixente Lizarazu is semi-basque

Yes but Luis Fernandez is a basque, so he's not really a foreigner for Athletico Bilbao ;)

Yes, this is true, Luis Fernandez is a french-basque.
Good to se Real Madrid loose again, I hate that bastard of Ronaldo.

Could be worse. As in the Bastard Son of Dean Freidman......

Go figure. If anyone can figure out that reference, good luck to you.

Cheers,

I saw them play live once. Pretty dreadful as I remember it. :)

Well I heard a lovely rumor,
that Bette Midler had a tumor,
so gleefully I went to tell my friends.
But they said it was a lie,
that she wasn't going to die,
"and by the way, have we got news for you!"

And they told me that the man
I had always known as "Dad",
hadn't met my Mum when I was born.
And they reckon that I am,
but I hope to God I'm not,
the bastard son of Dean Friedman,
the bastard son of Dean Friedman.

And my school work fell behind
with this bombshell on my mind.
The art teacher said he understood.
But he could only sympathise
with the sadness in my eyes,
even though he showed me his Magerite!

And in the corridors of fear
I would shed a lovely tear,
as ridicule flew at me from both sides.
And they mocked me in my mocks,
and embroidered in my socks,
the bastard son of Dean Friedman,
the bastard son of Dean Friedman.

Supercalifragilistic, Borussia Moenchengladbach.

And you can thank your lucky stars that you're
not the bastard son of Dean Friedman,
the bastard son of Dean Friedman.

Wonderful Dean Freidman tribute band. ;-)

Obscure Freidman reference in the final part of those lyrics. I believe there are only a handful of us that remember the ACTUAL Dean Freidman.

Care to explain the reference? I missed it.

The "lucky stars" part is similar to Dean Freidman's (actually Friedman) followup hit to his US top 40 song, "Ariel", from 1977.

Yes...ancient history to most of you. ;-)

"(have you ever wondered how you get triangles from a cow?) "

You need butter milk and cheese, and an equilateral chainsaw.....

Btw , way back then , when HMHB released that song, there was a severe outcry from the UK division of the 'Dean Friedman Fan Club'. They wanted to sue the band big-time. But when the man himself heard the song, he liked it , thought it was funny, and decided not to sue.

Half Man Half Biscuit . Some of the greatest lyrics to emerge from a band this side of the Wirral.......

Cheers,

AL
