See? If you were proud of your scores more often instead of labelling them as "POOR JUNK", nobody would think you were as strange. It's possible to be proud of one's score without bragging about it, too.

Well, I looked around that board a little using Altavista and Excite Japan's translation methods... unfortunately I can't understand that much. But what I DID notice is that my name has come up quite a bit there. I find it hilarious that some of the things I say and do on MARP became worth discussing over there. You guys really are obsessed with me. I've become a hot topic on boards/newsgroups in Japan (2ch), Italy (Emuita) and France (the JVRM newsgroup, or so I've been told). Which country is next? :D

But the question remains... why do you take so many opportunities to insult me?

I hope if something like that was done then the trick/cheat way would be archived so not worth any points. It would trash MARP IMHO if we allowed separate score entries and points for playing games using tricks etc. There are far too many tricks for too many games.

I think US players don't necessarily know or at least publish as many cheats and tricks as Japanese players know how to cuz in general tricks and cheats are used by unskilled players that can't obtain good scores playing the game normally...or stop at nothing to have the highest score...even if that has nothing to do with being the best skilled player.

TG is slowly but surely outlawing more and more tricks and cheats for their records. It takes time though. It takes a lot of their time just to review submitted video tapes and inps for their mame division etc. so there isn't a lot of time to devote toward banned various tricks. The whole mame division of TG is managed by 1 person, Mark Longridge. He doesn't get paid for this(or certainly not a lot). It's not his job. It's mostly volunteer work cuz he loves doing it. It's often cuz they just haven't had any records for many of these games. Outrun could be proposed to start having records for....but I'm sure TG would ban that trick to run at top speed off-road....avoiding traffic or making the course shorter by doing that.

Almost all the other sample trick list you list above has been banned by TG. Yeah, in Alpine Ski let me do the trick to get 999,999 and say I'm the best player in the world where if I played the game normally you might be just a "novice" at the game.

Any trick that allows a novice/beginner to break the top scores by best skilled players of the game must be banned. This seems to definitely be the case with Outrun.

I think it's because you are the top ladder scorer in marp :)
And, I'm fear we have misunderstanding you because of your war with Novice. It seem you make some comments for answer to those of Novice for some of your scores and we don't see the jokes. So... apologies.

Cool :) You go on jvrm website sometimes ?

Why JVRM is talking about BBH ?
Because your the first... so your "mediatic"
Because your too "arogant" IMHO.
More respect to other players, who are making MARP such an important place, is expected from great players like you or Novice.

I've been to the website, yes. But not the newsgroup. I only know that I was mentioned there because Barry found a few posts mentioning me and showed them to me on IRC...

Arrogant? I'd be interested in knowing how you arrived at that conclusion. I've congratulated quite a few players on their accomplishments here. Also, I have said it before many times, and I will say it again - the leaderboard is meaningless. I honestly believe and know that I am NOT the best player on this site. I also don't go around bragging about my accomplishments, with certain exceptions like Shock Troopers (since I do believe I've earned that). So does that make me arrogant?

Am I supposed to sing the praises of every player that uploads a recording here even if I don't believe the recording to be great? Why is that my responsibility and not yours? Because I've been here longer and happen to be 1st on a leaderboard that everyone seems to think is so important? I'm sorry, but no. I might not mention here every recording I'm impressed with, but why should I when nobody else does? I will mention it on #marp on IRC, sure. But there's really no designated forum here for congratulating players.

I'll second that. A Topic of cheers for extrodinary play: usually a post is made once or twice of congradulatory nature in the general/regu topics but i bet if it's its own topic will bring out more.

Obviously I think this is a good idea too :) But a forum for that could also be used for not just offering congratulations, but... well, just any discussion about recordings that are up on the site. Discussion of tips and tricks, questions on how certain players accomplish things, stuff like that. It could get more interaction going on here between players and maybe help some people lose the allegations of being "arrogant".

sure there's always the General forum, but I see that more as a place for discussing things that aren't necessarily MARP-related, but still of interest to people here.

What should I have said? Make Jr. Pacman, Not war? ;)

Make Berzerk, not war? Make a hack of Total Carnage where you completely obliterate the bejeezus out of Saddam Hussein and send it to Bush so he can get his rocks off to that every hour of the day and avoid a horrendous war? [hmmmmmm [looks around for Photoshop]]

Well.. I do seem to recall doing that in Alpine Ski for kicks ^^;; what was the score in the end that the editors gave me? -137 points I think?

And in regards to the Outrun thing... I am sure even I as a novice could maybe pull it off once....... after like 100 tries... I dunno... it seems you gotta have some damn good skill and luck to pull it off.. that alone shouldn't make it bannable.. especially if someone beats the score gotten with that via normal methods.

But I do see it from your point of view, and do have agreeances with that for the most part. But this is forgiveable... it's not like the GnG trick with the timer mess up..

BBH you are an amazing player but you must remeber that you are number 1. Because of this people are always going to try and bring you down. Everone likes to take aim at the guy on top. People are going to take pop shots at you to try and de-emphasize your status. Its like being the champ and everyone is going to try and bring their "A" game against you. Ever play king of the hill? Same rules apply. Just let it role off you and take pride that its going to take a miracle to bring you off the mountain top. :D :D

Don't worry, BBH. Soon Phil will take your first place, and he will be the number one. Soon he will be main spot for all players, including Hisa :D
