[The Invincible Glitch]
-----------------------
The glitch is a bug in the game which allows many special things like
unlimited magic missile spells for some characters(not mage or elf),
invulnerability and lots of other cool stuff. The reason it is not
included in this faq is that if used incorrectly it hangs the machine.
Personally I get totally pissed off when someone hangs the machine. Also
even if the glitch is used correctly many weird events happen until that
machine is reseted. So if you want to find out about the glitch ask
someone else. Also upgraded version of the game fixes the glitch. Don't bug
me for how to use the glitch, I won't tell you. I've got sick of lame
players, playing the game with the glitch (What challenge?). Or
playing after a group has used the glitch (weird things happen, man).
Ok, got your should-have-been 15 minutes of fame

There's not much sense to play with invincibility and as we don't allow Galaga no-fire-bug either, so:
Special rules edited. Barry, you know what to do...

All version with that build date or earlier will need the rule. Later ones have that bug fixed.

I take it gamenames are build dates
Code: Select all
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960619)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Asia 960619)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960209)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960223)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Japan 960206)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Japan 960619)
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (US 960619)
ddsom +clones
As ddsomur1=(US 960209), that will make rules needed for:
title Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960209)
set name ddsomr2
and
title Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Japan 960206)
set name ddsomjr1
--------
Rules added for ddsomr2 and ddsomjr1 (and ddsomur1):
Use of "invincibility glitch" not allowed.

Code: Select all
ddsom "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960619)"
ddsomr1 "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960223)"
ddsomr2 "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Euro 960209)"
ddsomu "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (US 960619)"
ddsomur1 "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (US 960209)"
ddsomjr1 "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Japan 960206)"
ddsomj "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Japan 960619)"
ddsoma "Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Asia 960619)"
I'd say jr1,ur1,r2 and possibly r1 (no XORs listed, so it doesn't work) as well.
The regions and build date are displayed at boot time, which would be more definitive.

Ruled ddsomr1 too.
Now there's only left for you Barry to zero your score and explain us how you did invincibility glitch.

All the glitch is, is a buffer overflow
Basically, you just choose a character whose default name fills up the 7 or 8 (can't remember which right now) characters, then you keep adding characters onto that. This overwrites the item data and cause some weird effects. You have to be careful, as it is quite easy to cause the game to freak out, lock up or whatever.
