I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just before i went to bed at 4 am, i thought i'd watch the last inp i made, to look for descrepencies.
10 minutes into the game, a windows pop up balloon appeared.
"this version of windows is not genuine" !!!!
i got a virus about 2 years ago, and this has appeared ever since. has it been that long since i played a non stop game? i can't believe it.
i do not have the verification code for this, this was a used computer, ex office stock.
i tried to turn pop up's off, and it kinda worked. i played a game after and all seemed well, i was happy. when i ended the game and escaped, there was a never seen before large square pop up box saying the same windows message. i thought i had cracked it, as long as i left that box open while i played.
today, it pops up every 15 minutes even though it is already open. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! (AGAIN!)

I guess your options are:
a) Buy a new, legal version of Windows, or
b) Install Linux.

yeah, it's a right pain!!
i have 3 computers, i need to sort out my packard bell imedia, but it's on xp, feels weird and old!
