28k at 2nd "
64 on 3rd "

your spacecraft all destroyed by blue aliens
.
hey uhm , i think there were more like 5 galaxian machines in this town
i always hated when they decided to put a superg upgade in them
there were 6 arcades in town at the height of the gameroom days
plus would be in the big city Columbus alot and played many games through
1979- 1984 when the arcades basicly collapsed
i stole a key to a parlor sized galaxian at the place down the street
chalked up credits on the sly.
also keys to the backs of asteroids deluxe and centipede
take tokens out when i was able to
round key in front and flat key to the back.

Actually 3rd ship was killed by the stuck right arrow key, and last ship by me not trusting the right corner to be safe enough :(

I only played exactly one Galaxian version back in the days, never knew there were different clones until I started playing them in MAME... the one in the bar I played must have been galmidwo, as I recall Midway as a label - and it can't be galmidw as that has a noticeably faster enemy fire - I can't do center->far left or far right when an alien has begun descent from that direction in galmidw, as I'll get hit by the bullet shot at the beginning of the descent.

And yeah, I was playing with 100 lire coins... recalled being caught by my mom playing the game when I should have been at catholic school... which probably ended my Galaxian career

Switched to Crazy Kong / Frogger / Scramble / Hyper Olympic a few years later when I didn't have anymore the necessity of lying or stealing money from my mom to go playing games at arcades - by then Galaxian was nowhere to be found.
Hyper Olympic
yeah , that and Track and Field
people would freakin' pound on the
game top.
after a while , tech people
would change the buttons
from flat ones to raised backs
to keep drummers from drumming.
~
in 1981 played alot of galaxian
i guess the only cabinett diffierences were
blue , green or black waxy plastic that lined
the sawdust and glue board and spraypaint .
also the game stick had either black or red ball on top.
think i saw a green ball on the stick , once.
i think you could not turn the to screw off or on
like some nintendo games but perhaps you could
becase i sorta remember taking a few off the stick and
playing around throwing to kids
or mix and matching
or some people would just plain keep them
so they fixed them perminately sometimes.
tabletop galaxian had a black lever
M.A.M.E. no longer has default scanlines on screen
boy , when you see a game with that shaded feature it brings back
memories...
tabletop gorf & astro fighter at pizza hut
tabletop bosconian at taco bell
they had a little larger 8 way joystick short
with textures on red plastic ball on top
like pac-man
~
in 1982 the same arcade-
i used to have the key to space fury & space odyssey.
however , you could not rack credits up with access
to the top of the machine because they were both sega
releases and both had power switch triggers that would cut
the juice to the unit with a loud ffrruuummpphh sound.
then on the closing of the door it would make another
noise like the sound of the ship docking that was rather loud ,
and an obvious alert to the gameroom opperator.
Plus if you had the key to the front of the game
they sooner or later would change the lock
swipping the key from the desk when the worker was in
the bathroom or in the backroom.
the best thing was to find the key to the back of a game,
and turn the mechanism but not open it up
or open the back up and lean it against the wall.
~
in 1983 i bought a sega Eliminator for $300.oo
it was at the store i worked in as stock-boy
made enough change to buy soda pop
they also had mr.do & donkey kong junior.
before that a year or two before they had
Targ and Battlezone in a backroom.
the owner burned the grocery store down
in early 1984 i lost the unit
remember seeing firefighters pushing the chared remains
of the games over on the television news at night.

That did it, I finally broke 100K on galaxian :D

Pity at 93K I still had 3 ships, and ended at 102K. Oh well... one step at a time !

You appear to have really lived the Golden Era, don't you - lots of good stories...
No buttons but joystick + button for me on Hyper Olympic, and I even played a version that had NO buttons (you had to point the joystick upwards to perform the equivalent function of the button - extremely hard in hurdles and high jump).

I tried moonaln, but as Rick Carter commented in his submission, "whoever made this clone must not like gamers much." - being in movement also moves the fired shot, enemies swing at 3x your speed... uhm.
It's 3:45am here now so I'll get some sleep, will have a look at your other recommendations !

Hehe - not just *any* mahjongg, but this one drove me crazy... and it's not for the girlies, there's so much good real stuff around... and when there isn't, there's different sources I'm interested in :D

This is the only mahjongg game I ever played at the arcade. Curious it's from 1989, when I basically had stopped playing for several years already. Remember a couple of video game places had this in the seaside town I was spending some holidays in, and I totally got intrigued by solving the puzzles.

I still haven't gotten over not being able to finish it, as it clearly appears

Trying to upload a 2188 at sichuan now, but the upload page stays there for a while then asks me if I want to save index.cgi... guess I'll try tomorrow. This one was especially painful as I saw which tile I should have coupled with the one I chose as first the very moment I confirmed another one to pair with the first. Damn !

Nell is a babe though =P~
