based on the previous leaderboard we had, it appeared you could choose to ignore clones.

I always thought from that only the points from parent rom sets would count for that alternative leaderboard display...but it had no affect.

I think it would be nice to have an option to ignore clones.

However, as stated for some games the clones are quite different to the point it can really be a different game versus anything else.

Another related topic would be splitting of rom sets into many categories.

ie. golf games split into scores for each and every course.
other games playing it for each course or difficulty mode the game offers...like pang.

All of those end up weighting certain players also as it's often the same player that has the high score for many if not all of the splits.

The real flaw IMHO is the leaderboard points are counted from every single rom set(except the few that are archived).

It would be nice if duplicate clones or clones where the difference in gameplay is insignificant were archived. If people still want to set scores for them that's fine..but no leaderboard credit from it.

..although now the credit is even less since only first place counts.

For me the leaderboard is fine in the actual way. The clones have to give points too. At the end a votation can be more significant (I believe most players want to clones be added in the leaderboard)
