I've tried to practice this but it doesn't seem reliable to get to work all the time. Does your ship have to be at the left edge to get the bonus?

I think not. But as ln2 said you can do it around 100% in certain screens if you do *exactly* the same moves with exactly same timing...a pattern.
I do it by going left on beginning of certain screens (kill screens! :)

I'd have to watch my own inps to remember in which screens/rounds that works.

However, at some romsets you can not pattern that 100k, as for example phoenix.zip and phoenixt.zip(I've listed those "100k sets" where you can pattern 100k's in one of my inp descriptions). Not sure if you even *can* get that 100k at parent romset, but it is not worth trying because your success rate is minimal and you'll do better going for the "straight" score...eventually.

Ah, no problem with that. I usually lose a ship or two by idiotic pseudo-suicides that award MUCH less than 100k

i know the first is not phoenix
EDGE recordings were created in fall of 2005
the wolf 97 emulation of the bird game sounds sick
it is a little slow in the audio
interesting to watch the subtle game changes through the years...

i watched the first at 100%
i almost alway review replays at normal speed
i enjoy it
but had togo
into it again to catch the end score ,duh.
