A 32-player bracket would work since we have enough people, but the original plan was for a 16-player bracket and we're sticking with that. Makes for a good combination of the "traditional" knockout rounds and bracket rounds. There will end up being 3 elimination rounds to reduce the field to 16.

Really sorry we can't allow it. :(
me too, its not my fault, i dont understand why you reduce someone, only because have slow cpu, i am realy disappointed, bye.
Because playing at a slower speed really isn't fair to everyone who's playing the game at the regular speed. At a slower speed you have more time to react to things. I know you're disappointed, but like I said, I went through the exact same thing as you with K3 and I couldn't play in it at all. You either find access to another computer, or move the frameskip up enough so that you can maintain 100% speed... or you don't play. Sorry.

BBH, about ZB recording and his speed. I think you can accept it, it is qualifying round only. I remember K3 tournament where Phil Lamat ask you to submit recording with lower speed because it was qualifying round only and your CPU was too slow (80%). Do you remember it?

I know that ZB can made 300k
without any problem. He is old player form Poland as me
I will ask ZB to find better PC for next rounds.

argh, I thought I got all the updates. My bad.
It's fixed now. Please let me know if I missed anyone else's score.

Mercy
Even for position 43.
I didn't have time to say ZB how made this 95% (I was busy). It was simple -> wait some time before starting game where speed was 100% and next start game, and after 300k immediately hit ESC
I think these 0.15% was possible to made
EDIT
wlfview show me speed 94.883753%
I remember that in K3 in qualifying round I played on framespik6 wit sound off because my CPU was too slow too. In next rounds was better.
EDIT2
I notice that:
destructor
DieseL
haynor
wuzel
on MARP have nicks with @HotTeam.pl added.

My point of view hasn't change ;
I always considered this first qualifying round as a registration, nothing more.
Let's give this guy a chance

Shhhh...
Using higher fixed frameskip is the right solution.
...So ferry 'cross the mercy...

We have over 40 players taking part, wow!

I better say something on my be-half as K5 coordinator.
We * may * have to delay a day or two until this ZB issues is resolved. We are not quite sure how many games will able to run under 500mhz cpu w/o picking any GEGOTW games or any past MARP or DECA tourney nor any games that JTC will add on his GEGOTW during the K5 tourney. Just like BBH said earlier, "Mame is getting slower and slower." There isn't going be any faster in the future until we all have fast cpu to keep up with it, IMHO.
For the record, I'm aware of some of MARPers are asking ZB to turn the sound off to speed up the game, because it has no effect at all. It won't work on Wolf101 & Wolf106, due the MAME DEV has removed that somewhere in MAME 90-99 cycles ((Mame 90 (I think)). Therefore -nosound has no effect on the future Mame release unless Mr. Giles decide to bring it back or not.
We'll be discussing for an alternative WolfMame for ZB, but I can not guarantee if there is Mame 63 bugs exist or not. We are hoping that if ZB have any access to faster cpu nor have DES to help him out.
So stay tuned....

wuzel: again you recorded with a memcard file present. You need to delete memcard.000 from the directory, or set the memcard directory to NUL so that it ignores it completely. It's a recent bug that popped up in MAME. We'll have to use the 507,000 that your original recording played back to since the second recording did not get as high a score without a memcard file present. (but thanks for including the .wlf file this time, heh)
no problems with anyone else's recordings, so here are the final results of the qualifier:

I just want to add my vote for letting zb play. If his cpu is too slow again then so be it, but surely we can let him try.

We went through this shit last year.
Why are GEGOTW titles being dismissed from consideration?
If I start "Shmups of the Day", "Puzzle Games of the Day", and "Fighting Games of the Day" competitions can I start getting them eliminated?

I have no opinion either way, but I consider it a mark of respect rather than insult to exclude GEGOTW games, giving them validity as being in a serious competition.

okay...
1. Marco, sorry about the mess-up, that was entirely my fault. I'll fix that now.
2. I'll add the HotTeam.pl suffixes too, destructor. Given that MARP has been sorta down I haven't been able to double-check everyone's name, and I don't know which name people would rather go by in the rankings when they have a different one on the forums. If anyone else wants their name changed, let me know.
3. Wuzel, your inp didn't work because you had a memcard.000 file. You need to delete this file or remove your memcard directory, or set the memcard directory to "NUL" in mame.ini. This is mentioned in the rules, I mentioned it again in the first post, I mentioned it a third time when somebody's else inp desynced, and I mentioned it yet again when your first inp desynced, both in a forum post here and in a PM. How many times do I need to mention this? YOU NEED TO REMOVE THIS FILE/DIRECTORY.
4. Pre-1985 games have NOT been excluded from competiton, we've already decided on at least one game for a later round that would of course fall under the "Golden Era" category. I completely recognize the fact that GEGOTW is something separate from MARP and shouldn't have any bearing on what games are decided for other tournaments.
5. Yes Phil, I realize that the qualifying round is more of a "registration" round than anything else, but why bother if you can't get a legal speed on the first game? It could just lead to a lot of wasted time if you end up getting to a later round and then find that there's no way for you to submit a legal recording on that game.
6. We're not delaying the next round, it's still going to start at 00:00 GMT tomorrow (around 22 hours from now), whether the ZB issue is resolved or not.
