The words in question were public ( public meeting on #marp ), so the answer will be public.
I read some lines by Ben Jos about me and I'm really disappointed. Ben Jos seems to think I have chosen some games to give an advantage to Phil Lamat. No doubt that the 3 games I chose for the k2 ( Ant Eater, Goal!Goal!Goal! , Snap Jack ) were games for which Phil had already a score in the Top 3. Phil and I are friends, and when I like a game, I talk to him about it and he often ( always ? ) plays it. More, we have certainly similar tastes for games. So, what's your point ? It was difficult ( impossible ? ) to choose games I like but for which Phil hadn't a score.
To conclude about that, it's clear I never thought a second to give an advantage to Phil in this tournament. I had been honest from the beginning to the end, and when I see the acknowledgement received by the winner of our tournament, it's difficult to accept it.
The most disappointing fact, Ben Jos, is that I often talk to you on #marp during the tournament, always in kind words. You never frankly complained about that at this moment, so why doing that now several months after, in a public meeting, and without speaking about that to me before ? That's a disgusting behaviour.

Public Answer to Ben Jos
Moderator: Chad
BenJos: this is exactly why you shouldn't be drinking. especially on
the day of a meeting.

Laga: you have to admit that having two games where Phil Lamat has the
#1 score, and then another where he was #2 (not just "Top 3" as you
referred to it, trying to make it sound worse than it really is) is
just a weeeeeee bit suspicious. That's all I'm sayin.

You should have seen BenJos later on that night...
I'll just say that BenJos probably wouldn't remember, and probably
won't want to.

I bet QRS will respond to this post....

BBH : If I said just "Top 3" , it's not to try to make it sound worse
than it really is, as you said, but only because I read it like that
in the log :
"[21:30] <BenJos> BeeJay: But 3 or 4 games on which Lamat held a top
3 score before it began?"
And the only thing I admit is that I probably made a mistake by
choosing these games. But it wasn't intentional.

Just for information :
on the 8 games of the tourney, there was 5 for
which I hadn't ANY score on Marp
(neodrift;rocnrope;unsquad;goindol;pkunwar)

The 3 others are :
*anteater (where I was 1st) .... great advantage for me , as the only
thing
to do on it was only 15000 pts !!
*snapjack (where I was 1st) but the very small score I had on it
(36000 or so)
shows that I hadn't spend a lot of hours on it ; was it really an
advantage ?
*goalx3 , where I was 4th (sorry guys : here no "top 3") after
Garrigue/GermanKrol/Cronos ;
the only advantage IMO was mainly that other players dislike this type
of game than I was
really mastering it ; as I like sports games you will probably find a
lot of sports games
where I already have a score ...

[21:33] <BenJos> Hell, I was more determined to kill Lamat

Phil, happy to learn than BenJos sportively wants to "kill" me

I have no opinion on this topic at this time...

but I'll mention that German Krol and Cronos are inactive at MARP.
Phil was #2 in the active players list. I don't know if that's what
BBH was trying to get at - but he's definatly #2 of those who are
active at MARP - or at least those who were active when the round
came up. GB9

The only reason I respond to this thread is cause I wonder why Barry
think i will respond to it..

"I bet QRS will respond to this post....

I don´t really get your point here Barry. I don´t know anything about
this issue. Please explain to me.

Ben Jos! What if it was me to say (again) I wanted, not for real, to
kill someone? Are you the only one authorised to joke? Tsk, tsk.

Oh man... what have I done now?

Yes, BBH, you are so right... I shouldn't have been drinking on a
night of a public meeting.

Lagavulin: I apologise for saying this in public for everyone to read
before talking to you. My only apology is that I don't even remember
saying that during a public meeting. Just look at Barry's reply. I
have said some very strange things on IRC before. I almost gave away
two HotRods during one of my nights. ("gave away" as in "I had to buy
them first, then ship them to the two people.)

Hell, I still hold the very questionable "first and only" of having
pissed off BBH on IRC. And I recently pissed off Brian too. I'm well
on my way to be the first to have pissed off every single #marper
(and MARPer) first.

On the other hand... once it had been made "more or less publicly"
known who of the 3 coordinators exactly had chosen which game... and
maybe that's the fault of the two other coordinators too (sorry, JD,
sorry, Brian, but I think you guys agree on this) for just accepting
your recommendations without doing too much research.

Lagavulin: It is well-known that you and Phil are friends and I think
that you guys even have your own one-on-one competitions on a lot of
games. Based on the first part, is it that strange that people think
what I apparently said in public? Based on the second part, yes, I
can see how you and Phil both know a lot of the same games and how,
then, you could choose games you know and like for the tournament.
And, yes, I admit that you could even choose those games without even
thinking about the fact that Phil has played most of those games too.

So, yes, I apologise for saying what I said in public and before
confronting you with that, but I do not apologise for things I have
been thinking (and lots of others, too). Yes, I was wrong, regardless
of my personal thoughts. I am sorry. I really am. I've pissed off a
lot of people and most of them at times when "my inhibitions were off-
guard". Yes, you are correct. We had very nice chats on IRC, and I
regret having done this to you in this fashion. I really did (and do)
enjoy your presence on #marp.

To Vaz and all the others I have pissed off: You're not alone. Maybe
I'm just a bastard at times. Not maybe, even, probably.

As a final, personal, note: Heh. Regardless of exactly how the games
were chosen, even if you did favour Phil (I said "if", so I am not
saying now that you did, I'm speaking hypothetically now), then it
backfired. It made me more determined to try harder. Especially when
I had to play Phil one-on-one on SnapJack.
