Here we are with the first game of the TimeTrial 2013, Out Zone, a great vertical shooter from Toaplan, year 1990.
This game has infinite loops, and is quite short, so it's ideal for our needs. It's also the main reason for having switched to WolfMAME150: its romset has been reorganized. On Wolf149 I found a rather difficult game under default settings, even first enemies took two bullets to die, and they fired quite a lot. From my memory, that difficulty was in loop2+, in fact I initially thought to let you play a clone. But with new WolfMAME150 the parent romset has changed, and the old parent was indicated as harder. Actual parent romset is at an adequate difficulty under normal/default settings.
Commands are simple: joystick 8-way, button1 shoot, button2 bomb.
Ok, after some technical notes let's talk a litte bit about this nice game, when you'll get the purple energy ball you'll really discover how funny it can be. Until you'll find the flame item exactly on your path. That won't be that funny, but don't worry, it's very powerful too

Usually this game is played for score with many bombs in stock, to get the 5K bonuses, but in this tournament you will bomb-walk quite often, I guess.
Remember: Wolfmame 150 and default settings. The requirement in this tournament is the first loop, play it as fast as you can, because your goal is to complete the first loop in the less time possible.
Round Duration: Sunday October 27th, 00:00:00 GMT - Saturday November 2nd, 23:59:59 GMT
TIME REMAINING
Here are some useful links, the correct Wolfmame to use and the batch files I promised to the players that aren't familiar with command-line MAME.
This is a vertical screen game, and some people (like me) usually turn their laptop on its side to play fullscreen. If you are going to do this, take the second batch pack.
Wolfmame 150 - Batch files for this game (horizontal screen), (vertical screen)
There are 3 batch files inside each zip:
Play.bat (normal play without recording, you can train with pause or savestates)
Record.bat (to record a new inp, keeps backup of the previous recording)
Replay.bat (to see the last recorded inp)
Good luck to everyone participating, and now run!
