Hmm I wouldn't have put it quite like that.

I'd just say if you're going to run a tournament, take a little
more interest in it & update the website a little more frequently.

Then maybe you won't get people dropping out because they can't be
bothered.

Crash.

p.s. But then I guess that's just my more polite version of the
previous message ;)

(This is coming from a friend's computer; still unpacking :( )

Wow, yet another enlightening post from a "mysterious" poster. And
people think that I'm desperate for attention.

I'm with Crash, though. It would be a lot better to update the site
more often; with the page down, why not ask everyone to email the
inps to you? It keeps the competition intriguing, you have to
admit :) With the way that things are going (moving, packing,
threatening small animals, you know the drill), I'm just going to
give up this round. No offense, Chris, but ever since the golf
round, it's just not fun, and the point to these competitions is to
have fun. Maybe KoA2 will be more up to date; may I suggest more
than one person that would update the scoreboard, that way if one
person's computer is down, the other can still do the job?

I'll catch you guys in the chat room in a couple of days; still many
small animals to torture. Here kitty, kitty, kitty....

Sincerely,

Let me see, other than JD, nobody offered to help, and if the top of
MARP (not naming names) cared to put even an ounce of help into the
KoA as they did in MARP Tourneys, it would be no troubles with out-of-
date pages. But nobody wanted to help (ok, gb excluded). So, with one
person on an outside page running the thing, there is to be some
downtime. NOW, if you want to volunteer to help, maybe it would be
different, if not, stop griping and complaining.
Okay, the soap box is open again.

Chris,

I thought what I said was more along the lines of constructive
criticism, rather than griping and complaining. I was just rewording
the offensive post (which was thankfully deleted) into rather more
suitable comments.

So you've said that gb and JD offered to help, and I would think
that three people would easily be enough. I know we'd have all
preferred to have separate "K1-game" categories on MARP to upload
into, but it wasn't to be as the SQL database changes aren't that
easy; notice T5 being set as T4 for example.

Zwaxy has been taking a back seat at MARP for a long time, and I for
one have NO criticism of that, as he put so much work into the site
overall making it what it is. And with the various editors' and
confirmers' efforts, for the main part it runs itself. That's nice
and painless for us mere MARP players, and it's how the majority of
us prefer it.

If you want help NOW with KOA updating and maintenance, then I'm
offering it. I don't think you'll dig KOA1 out of the hole it's in,
but I'm sure with a bit more planning KOA2 has the potential to be
much more successful.

I'd just suggest as a starting point having better fixed deadlines
for the start and end of the various rounds, having the ROM available
for download as soon as the page is ready, and more careful use of
the previous round's page when using it as a template for the next
round. The various errors just make it look like you don't care, and
I think that's a contributory factor in so many people dropping out.

I think maybe (no offense to anyone ok?) that we all MARPERS should
stop complaining all the time to Chris, and see the simple fact that
without him there is no KOA!

If we do this all the time B4to people that tries to bring up w idea,
the will be no new ideas in the end...

I think your KOA is ok Chris (THe games have not been soo fun yet,
but the idea is very good)

Thank you QRS.
Dean, I thank you for your comments, but what happens is people
expect things to run as smooth as MARP tourneys, but those boards are
auto-updated, so it's not possible. I try my damnest (sorry about
profane) to get everything as smooth as possible, but that's not
always possible.
