Hi! Wondering if anyone could help with this question:
I love this game Dynasty Wars (capcom cps game), and there are 3 different 'versions" of the game: U.S., japanese, and there is one that is a "resale version". Each has its own rom. I have the roms, and would like to try all 3, but when I put them all individually in the roms folder for mame, the only one that appears is the U.S. version. With a different rom that i have that is zipped, I can just put it in the roms folder, and am able to play the U.S. and Japanese versions. Is there a way to zip all the three roms I want together, so mame can read all versions? ....or is there something I can do to be able to play all 3? thanks alot!!!
You can use the ROMs either split or merged, either way should work. Split = clone ROMs which differ from the parent in separate zips. Merged = all ROMs from all versions/revisions/clones in the parent zipfile.
For split ROMs, all the ROMs for dynwar will be in dynwar.zip, with the ROMs that don't match dynwar for each clone set being in dynwara.zip, dynwarj.zip and dynwarjr.zip (depending on which clone they're for).
For merged ROMs, all the ROMs for dynwara, dynwarj and dynwarjr would be in dynwar.zip, also.
Using mame <setname> -verifyroms will tell you what may be missing. If you're using an old UI version (your post implies that you are, but you aren't very specific on that), then select the game in question, and select Audit.
