MARP Election 2012 - Call for Nominations

Voting for the KO and Regulation Coordinators will start on 4/24. We'll also have Editor confidence voting at the same time.

Just to note, I accepted both the KO and Regulation nominations.

Note that election rule I.D.5 states: "Any editor may be a regulation coordinator. A regulation coordinator may not be a tournament or knockout coordinator."

So according to the current election regulations you can't actually be both the Regulation coordinator and a Knockout coordinator. You're welcome to run for both, but if you were selected for both you'd either need to pick only one or we'd need to run a poll to change the election rule.

We might run into another election rule as well:

I.E.5 states: "Up to one editor may be a knockout coordinator. A knockout coordinator may not be a regulation or tournament coordinator"

Since both BBH and mahlemiut are Editors, the rule wouldn't allow them to both be KO coordinators. Again, we can have a poll if we want to change the rule. I understand the intent of these rules was to avoid having too small a group of people running everything, but given MARP doesn't have quite as many active members as it did when the rules were written, it might make sense to change the rules.

In this way, who is elected to vote in the election rules polls?

Ok, since we had a request to vote on changing the election rules we'll do that first and defer the actual election voting until after we reach a decision on change the rules. I'll post something later tonight on two separate votes to change the election rules to allow:

1) Regulation Coordinator is allowed to also be a Knockout or Tournament Coordinator
2) Allow more than 1 Knockout Coordinator to be an Editor
