WCC9 coming soon

Hi all.
As no tourney is planned for now, I'm about to start my WCC9 very soon if everybody is ok.
Like in 2010, it will be a 5 games/5 weeks tournament.
I can start from 1st october, or earlier if you want.

Opinions ?

Ok WCC9 will run from 1st of october to 6th november 2011.
First week will be from Saturday 1st October 00:01 gmt to Friday 7th October 23:59 gmt.

I will announce first game tonight ...

I've launched the tourney because I was thinking people want a tourney now, as we haven't any from a long time.
I was wrong.

I'm afraid the tournament is dead, I can't run first week with only 1 entry !

So I cancel the tournament...

That's possible. Also natural disasters, corrupt governments, family issues, death, and just plain burnout in general could also be reasons (that last one especially in my case, seeing how my only submission this past year is a joke game).

Yeah. I've found the format of tournaments a bit too taxing in the past...in the long run. Doing well demands such a huge amount of playing for such a long time.

Also I feel personally that it would be nice to know beforehand what games will be played. And, probably there's no interest here for several tournaments/year - that leads to getting tired with constant high volume playing even for enthusiasts.

How about having one tournament/year and naming it MAME World Championships, or something.

On another topic...I'm bummed about nearly all interesting forum discussion moving to Alpiger's site...which is more about playing actual cabinets and buddying at US events by small clique.

I would've competed but I don't read the forums often enough to have seen the post in time.

Is there some sort of email opt-in on MARP that would notify people of upcoming tournaments?
