If you want easy get 200k on stage 2-1 use leeching on stage 1-1 and 1-2. On 1-2 is enough.

Timing is the secret to get 200k on 2-1. I use leeching on 1-1 and 1-2 but the problem is on Ken Oh, I take more time ! also on the 1st bonus stage, I don't try to score because I don't want to take too many risks...
But I will try, you can trust me !!!

PS. I have ready screenshots for 4th bonus but no time to write about it.

BTW. More infos about 1UPs. In game is more than 1 special hostage but I noticed that in all Shinobi versions on MAME you can get one 1UP only during whole game, you can choose from which hostage (and it's 100%) you get 1UP when you have 3 identical digits at end of your score. When I play on real arcade machine I get 3-4 1UPs during whole game but it wasn't 100%, it was 95% (maybe 90%) chances for get 1UP instead points from special hostages.

I would like to ask you Des if you already have got more than one 1UP during the same coin in arcade game ?
I play on original system 16 pcb and I never get more than one 1UP. I try since a long time !!!
When you tell that it's 95-90% chances for get 1UP instead points from special hostages on real arcade game, it's wrong. In fact, when you switch on the pcb and use the first coin, it's 100% sure to get one 1UP but never more. When you use second or more coin, it's not 100% sure to get the 1UP. It's almost sure that you can't get 1UP on the second coin during the whole game. Maybe it's the same thing on mame. I will try.

The only mistake is on stage 4-2 with the last 2 hostages for 200pts. He could get 1000 pts for both hostages if he kills first guardian and jump over the second and deliver 2 hostages but it's so easy to say and so difficult to do at this moment of the replay !!! The rest of the replay is awesome !!! 795/796 is possible but +800 as you say, I can't see how it's possible. The only way to score +800 for me is to get more than one 1UP with hostages.

One other thing, it's possible to get more than 61500 pts on the last boss. Superplayer Michirun show this on the replay. 66700 would be the limit !!!

PS best personnal score is +774k pts on pcb.

Yes, more than one 1UP during the same coin. I remember that last digits not must be 000 on this arcade. Can be 010 too (I'm not sure about 020)

One other thing, it's possible to get more than 61500 pts on the last boss. Superplayer Michirun show this on the replay. 66700 would be the limit !!!

Sorry Des, but I don't find a way to get second 1up hostage during the same coin. For me, it's impossible on orginal pcb (maybe on bootleg ?)

I've scored recently 803.840pts on system 16 original pcb (and recorded on DVD).
About the number of possible 1up hostage during the same coin, I've checked again and again and again and one is the maximum on orginal pcb !!!
I know there are few different bootlegs roms so maybe in one of them, it's possible to get more one than 1x 1up ?
One thing is sure, the first coin you play (after booting the game) is 100% sure to get 1up special hostage, but when you finish the game (game over) and re-start another coin (or contiune), it's not 100%, lower 50% from my experience.

1. Must be possible to get more than 1up because I did it, don;t remember it was clone or original PCB.
2. When I played on PCB was not 100% sure to get 1up.

I remember that on Shinobi PCB was internal memory (all scores was forever in memory even after power off machine. Possible as reste memory otherwise). Maybe here is key in internal memory (NVRAM?). Maybe because on first coin is 100% for 1up then on next coins percentages are added to others hostages.

Nope, the version I played, way back when, wiped high scores when powered off. Although, it might (I'd have to check) keep basic statistics in NVRAM... Shadow Dancer saved high scores, though...

System 16 pcb save all scores. The only way I know to reset scores is to not boot the game during 7-10 days (or more of course).
Have you tried the Datsu bootleg version ? I can't find any mame version who can boot correctly this version !! This version seems a bit strange, maybe the key is here ??
I've tried beta and star without favorable result.

1up was possible to get only from "known" hostages. Not always 0, sometimes it was randomly for lucky boys (for example x0050) But generally, each boy set digits to 0.

I know there are surely more than the 3 bootlegs version from mame. I'm sure now that you've played a very strange pcb version of the game.
I play this game since 1987 (and I've an original pcb) and I've never seen lucky hostage (with 0050 for example). I've probably never played this strange version in local arcade. Now, I'm sure that it's impossible on original pcb.
