Al will no doubt have something better to post about one of the best from the early days of Snooker, and one who helped significantly in increasing the popularity of the "sport".
Cheers,
BeeJay.

Re: Farewell Hurricane Higgins
Not much to say. Very sad. He was very sick for the last few months in particular.
Was there at Goffs (Benson & Hedges Irish Masters) in 1989 when he beat Stephen Hendry 9-8 albiet with one leg. He had previously fallen out a window in a hotel....
Was funny watching him hop around the table.
I met him in Blackpool, England, during the season qualifiers in 1991. He was pissed drunk in the hotel lobby. I managed to have a brief chat with him, and he signed a beermat for my mum who was a huge fan. Met him again in Dublin 2/3 years ago. He was doing an exhibition with Jimmy White and Ronnie O'Sullivan. Do you know what? He actually remembered me from Blackpool!
So in time honoured fashion, will raise another glass to The Man (well did it last night too, but who's counting?....).
Farewell Alex. Now you have an eternity of chasing and punching Eddie Charlton to look forward to!!!

Re: Farewell Hurricane Higgins
Thanks for Sharing Al. I saw him live at Finnish Open somewhere in 90's. His trademark gestures were still there although his game quite wasn't...well he did make a hundred though. Lost to Mark King in the semis I think. Quite a character.
