uopoko/mameplus106 not working for me

I've downloaded and watched many recordings from here, but i can't get any of the wolfmame plus 106 recordings of Phil Lamont's top uopoko scores to play. When I use the gui to load the inp, after the "press OK" screen, the screen goes black with a tiny blue square at the top and nothing happens. If I try to use the console version from the command line, it gives back the error message "Fatal error: Failed to open file for playback (src/windows/config.c:595)" Anyone able to help? I'm running Win XP SP2.

Just press Enter to continue, it's the game info screen, which didn't display correctly in versions of MAME Plus built with Visual C++.
