A 49-way joystick on MAME

Post by Robert Griffin »

From this page:
http://urebelscum.speedhost.com/49waySt ... 49wayGames

...it says this:
49-way sticks connected as Analog Joysticks
Rather than attaching a 49-way stick directly, it can also be connected to the computer as an analog joystick. You can build your own circuit, or buy one from Dave Electronics. If you connect it like this, official Mame can convert the analog input for Sinistar and Blaster.

They also gave a link to http://dave.bit2000.com/ who have something called an SJC Simple 49-way Joystick Controller. In regards to that, do you need an actual Williams 49 way stick, or can you use the SJC Simple 49-way Joystick Controller to adapt a regular 8 way, or how does that work? I wonder if it's possible to adapt someting for my SlikStick panel so I can play SINISTAR more effectively.

Would something like this be easy to do, or is it possible at all?

It's very simple. How to use 49-way joysticks on PC read on BYOAC forum in Main section. Instead 49-way joystick you can use analog joysticks too. For example UltraStik 360 joystick from Ultimarc which no needed additional interfejs.
