Wolfmame and ROMs ...

Post by Yatta_Yatta-O_o »

Hello, Im trying to use wolfmame to comply with the rule requiring it to submit highscores.

However, altough wolfmame runs, when I try to run the rom "magdrop3", it says "The selected file is missing one or more required ROM or CHD images."

It is the same rom I use with Mame32 .62 with no problem (.zip file containing .bin files).
I tried a different version of the rom I used with NeoRage, with no success (.
zip file containing .ROM files)

I googled this and checked arround here with no success. I believe theres a simple trick I missed, but could'nt find it.

Has anyone the answer ? @_@

Roms change from time to time. You have to have correct roms for certain MAME version. That means that for example roms for magdrop3 for MAME0.62 do not work with MAME0.80:

Here you see when roms have changed:

http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/magdrop3
http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/neogeo

You just have to download many romsets and see which fits with the MAME version you are trying to play.
Clicking right mouse button the gamename in WolfMAME game list and select "audit roms" to see what files are missing from your zip.

If you want roms for latest versions, I believe there might be bittorents somewhere.

But yeah, try googling:
"USERS' FAVORITE ROMS"
(Uh, I see that site hasn't updated since 0.115)

Thanks for the answer. I was surprised by the "right mouse buton" thing because the wolfmame (0.120) im using doesnt have a mouse support o_o.

However after repeatingly messing with the files, Ive finally found a solution.
On the contrary of m35tg3b which requires to be ran in a different folder than mame32, wolfmame seems to requires to be in the folder of mame32 o_o.

Now, when I run wolfmame, and select the game, it works. Same rom file than during the other tries tough @_@. Theres definitely something I dont grasp here, but well, it works now.

Now, training and more training to beat the high scores ... well when the work hours ends, at least.
