New rules for G-Darius Ver.2 (Ver 2.03J)

Post by asn007 »

This game has got two completely different modes... in first we play as in classical gdarius version (skipping choice of start level), in second, we have time-attack on base-ship... if we destroy them quickly we can get more of points.... for comparisons in first method I can obtain about 2 millions of points, in second about 4,5 to 5 millions after 1st stage.... does not give this too great possibilities to comparisons skill players. Options has differences with both with difficulty how and counting of points...

Hi, nice recordings on gdarius by the way.

We do normally split games based upon a distinctly different path through the game. I think we've done time attack mode on shooters and we probably could do one for gdarius. For those of us not familiar with the game, please could you upload two different inp files that demonstrate the two different ways to play? (that is if someone already doesn't know how to get into time attack mode, i don't.)

Watch normal g-darius inp and ver. 2 one you'll notice that player in ver. 2 fights a boss with a timer.... if you destroy it faster then you get more points easily... by the way, ver. 2 is much harder than original heheh

about the rules, before you start the game you have a choice of 2 courses.... beginner and expert :D beginner gives only 3 stages while expert does give 5
stages... so players on expert can get a lot of more points than those on beginner

cool, thanks for demonstrating! I'm not really an expert on this game so i'm only offering a comment. The regulation coordinator has the final decision on what and how to split. We normally split if there are differnet looking paths in the different games. Both beginner and normal mode start out in alpha and there appears to be no difference in enemies other than difficulty and points gathered. By this info alone we probably would not split. And if we do not split, we should pick one way to play (either normal or beginner) so everyone is on an even playing field. Since it seems easier to get more points in normal mode even though it is probably more difficult.

On beginner mode you can select start stage... and you can play always 3 stages. On normal mode you can play 5 stages and it is more harder than beginner mode.

Identical situation is with 3kokushi
http://marp.retrogames.com/r/3kokushi
and it is not split.
If you want to more points then play on harder mode.

Yeah it looks like if it is a subset in this case 3 of 5 and would not be a distintly different path, then it should (would) not be split. I think all recordings will be in harder normal mode, or what ever mode you can get the most points per your preference.

But identical problem is in Pang3

http://marp.retrogames.com/r/(pang3-beg ... pang3-pan)

and game has 4 different parts (beginner, normal, expert and panic mode). Not only classic and panic mode...

Beginner mode in pang3 has few (10? i never play that game to end) stages normal and expert is a full game (but expert is harder).

the difference between pang-beg and pang3-exp is different because each level is different. If pang3-exp level 1 was the same as pang3-beg level 1 then it may not be split. gdarius-nml level Alpha is the same as gdarius-exp level Alpha except with a few more enemies. (this is opinion from someone with NOT supreme knowleged in the game...)

but can't you go to beta or gamma after starting from alpha on normal mode? These are the same levels are they not? So in order to score the highest, you just pick alpha on normal to visit the most levels (and get the most points from the time attack mode.)
