New here....

Post by tk2007 »

Hi there I m new here and I have some questions.

I saw that hiscores get on the board immidiately. How much time need a score/scoreman be in Twin Galaxies boards? I read something about video recording...

I saw around here something about mame olympiads, I d like to participate but when and how??...

v0.116 cannot play and record input, right?

Not that this is the place for TG questions, but MAME scores at TG can take a day to a few weeks depending on referee load. Scores go up at MARP instantly since it's automated, they are usually confirmed the same day.

Keep an eye on these boards for tournaments such as the olympiad, each of them has a separate section. None are currently running.

Ver 0.116 works fine but wolfmame is the preferred build at MARP and required for 1st place scores. Get it here: http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/

I dont think 0.116 works fine, did u try to save a game? Also, I dont think the hiscore.dat file works.

I downloaded the wolfmame(what is the difference with common mame?) v.0.117 but its not the 32 style so I dont know how to run it.

All hi scores I saw in http://marp.retrogames.com/ r unconfirmed... plus that some uploaded mame versions dont work or fake. We need the mame version in which we made the score, to display properly the file, right?

Save game and hiscore.dat are useless for record/playback input. Some games supports saves and hiscore.dat, some not. Sometimes for saves I use older verions, 0.99, 0.87 for example where saves works.

32 style ends with version 106. From 107 all versions are command line. For easy windows mode I recommend use frontend -> EmuLoader, probably best frontend.

I don't think hiscore.dat is supported by the more recent versions of MAME. 99% of MARP scores are confirmed, a green score means it's unconfirmed. You need the same version in order to playback the inp, it's not always available from the MARP links.

I'm sure 0.116 works since there are numerous recordings that use it. For general MAME operating questions including how to use non 32 versions go here: http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html

welcome, tk. As Des said, you do need wolfmame106 or earlier to run the built in 32 front end gui version. You can get old wolfmame versions including wolf106 here.

When I wrote "save game" I meant record for "play & record input"
I know that hiscore is useless for "record/playback input". I just mentioned that hiscore.dat doesnt works in this version(check it yourself).
32 style ends with version 106.
This is not true. As I said I have v.0116 and it is in 32 mode.
For general MAME operating questions including how to use non 32 versions go here: http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html
Please, dont send me to other links, I hate this! If u can, explain me how to use the not 32 mode, if not ok, I wont use it.

finding games (i.e. rom) questions are a no-no. Those you will have to aquire yourself, google is your friend, other groups you find can be your best of friends. (you did say no links :) but here's a link in order to "SEARCH" marp for the game you are looking to upload TO.

remember for many people here english is not their native lanuage. Even though they do a darned good job in expressing themselves. However, everyone is not perfect (well maybe except for des). What Des means is that wolfmame106 and earlier include a 32 version in them. mame107 has a 32 version called mame32-107 or mameplus-107, wolfmame107 does not. SO you can run the 32 version for wolfmames ealier than 106 and submit 1rst places scores at marp once you find the games.

Oh boys, for once more u misunderstood :? I was talking about games scores board...Did u se the word BOARD? I didnt ask for rom...I have them all.
I repeat that there is not alphabetical order and not any search box...Suppose I want see metal slug 2...Where is it? It is not on M but I know there is.

And about your 2nd paragraph, I ll just use a mame version that other player in the board used too

i know you don't want to follow links but you may have to in this situation

http://marp.retrogames.com/r/mslug2

or to submit regular expression searches

http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... search=yes

searching for games on the BOARD

search.php

boy boy boy...

About first link: metal slug was an examble...Shall I have to ask u for any game??

About second link: this search looks not to work properly. I put in the first white box "pacmania" and I got 3 results(1st, 2nd & 3rd hiscores)*
Than I put in Ms.Pac-Man and I got no result...
Is there any reliable way to find the game we want? Why games r not in alphabetical order? Maybe u want make it difficult? :)

About third link: No, I dont speak for that board. I m talking for hi score boards!

*PS. I just made a pacmania score of 320.000 points. May I submit it? Or we can submit only the 1st,2nd&3rd? I know that in Ms.Pac-Man there are more than 3 scores.
Is there any topic in the forum in which we can announce our scores or talk about?

Do you think you know how to spell every single game you wish to know or have you just never used a search engine? (There is a space between Ms. and Pac-man) Try broadening your search results by making your game name into a smaller query. And use the different fields.

Entering in "ms." into the "long name" field easily gets me all the mspacman clones (although more than that of course) so, just click on the snapshot to see all mspacman clones after you find one.

As for the 1,2,3, there is another field called "worst position to show" enter 9999 in there and you'll see all the uploads for a game.

I just clicked on the M that appears in the top frame and all the Metal Slug romsets come up. Give the page time to load because it's loading the top 3 for every game that starts with an M.

When you use the search box, if you know the game's shortname, be sure to enter that into the "short name" box. Putting in "Ms.Pac-Man" isn't going to turn up anything in the short name box, but "mspacman" will.

Dear Chad, I spelled the game exackly as its written(Ms.Pac-Man)...Now about that space...shouldnt make any difference.

Ok, I should use the second field...but since first field returned results on pacmania I thought I could take results from ms pacman too.

Now I understood how to find a game and all of its submited scores, thank u :D

I just submited mine, 4rd place in Pac-Mania (Japan) :D \:D/
Is there any topic in the forum in which we can announce our scores or talk about?

PS. Is it true that we must delete any NVRAM file before play and record input?
