Old Japanese records from "Mycom Basic magazine"
I might as well post my comments here...
1942: 121m must be a typo, 12,1m would be more likely
Exerion: 4m, 300k better than Italian record.
Galaga: 28m, nearly doubles Krogman's record...could be a no-shooting-trick, then again you never know.
Gauntlet: 73k, lol, that's what they call "inaugural".
Hyper Olympic: 5,5m, I assume this is game better known as Track&Field and score is marathon.
Hyper Olympic84: 1,7m, autofire, continues etc used.
I Robot: 800k. Nice score
Karate Champ: 3,5m, not sure which version. I guess it's same where I have scored 999k. comment "about 7 time" is confusing though.
Marble Madness: 215k, 1 coin. Must have been done on pretty generous timer settings...
New Rally X: 633k, MARP record is 366k
Paperboy: Easy street 139k ok, Grandslam is wrong only 200k, Hard 395 should be doable, middle is too high compared to that. No info on lives setting, you get points in the end for each life left.
Peter Packrat: 5,055 556m, whoa. Pattern used...I would really like to see this pattern. There was a huge score at some Japanese site but I never could playback the recording.
Pole Position: 93k, settings must be different from MAME or TG, since MARP scores are 64k and TG is 67k and both should be about max scores.
Quantum: 2,266m, Breaks TG record by 150k. comment "rank 4, 1 coin". Assumably leeching on early stages, since MARP best is only 150k where you have to start from level 9.
Sinistar: 1290k, breaks TG record by 500k, marathon settings?
Star Wars: 200m, comment "100 stages". This is wrong, should be around 20m if this is 100wave score.
"Star Wars Jedi no fukuushuu": 1,365m = Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (ROTJ). 1,365m is just about a score for finished game.
Tac/Scan: 2,7m, This is just about the magnitude of a score I would expect a top performance have. TG's scores of hundreds of millions seem bogus, escpecially when score rolls at 1m.
Taisen Karate Dou(Karate Champ clone): 1m. This is similar to Karate Champ USvs version....since at MAME this game finishes after one round(200-250k), this game must have an option for continue. Very easy to do if continue was used. Just use the patterns. Makes me wonder if the other Karate Champ score listed was done on continue setting.
Tempest: 3m, nearly doubles TG marathon score!
Tron: 65k, uh, must be a blindfold score.

I would say at least half the scores listed at that site are bogus.
20 million on Mappy?!?!?
2.3 million on pac and pal?!?!?
the pole position scores....maybe....they do state 6 laps. arcade records are for 4 laps...TG..some tracks are 4 laps, others are 5...none are 6.
201 million on star wars...yet states 100 stages?
since when do you score 2 million per stage?!!?
yet others like tron...only 65 k? are you kidding me?!?!
many are legit though.

Re: Basic magazine records
this hi score list (http://www.aiva.emuita.it/pregamest.htm) is translations from this site:
http://up2web.at.infoseek.co.jp/score/title.html
if you want know the details about these scores you must contact Up2 player, not in english of course, but in japanese.
For gamest score I know all, but I don't know any informations about games before 1987.

Did you test replay here?
Pole position might be 6 laps setting.
MAPPY is a marathon?

As for a high score, only the score of a specific game spot is totaled.GHEMANT wrote:Dan, I have first 33 issues of mycom basic magazine (1982-1984), but in "YOU ARE CHAMPION!" section (score verified) I not see the scores in this list by Up2 player.
Have you idea?
And, there is a person who doesn't have interest in a public competition though it has ability either.
up2 (kub also ) doesn't speak to me,
however, I think that I might possibly exist in a name different in the list.

Like what Gamest was used to do, mycom publish 10 scores for every game center. The best and verified scores went all in the "YOU ARE CHAMPION!" section, a summary section with 1 score (the better) for each game. If you search in this database http://www.north-wind.ne.jp/~yoshino/ch ... /index.htm you can find all the scores from 1984 to 1999 of this section. But up2 scores are missing. Why?
Anyway on mycom, like in gamest, in some box dedicated to single game centers you can find higher scores. These scores are generally NOT obtained with default settings or otherwise they are not verified. So I think that that list of records posted by up2 might be a summary of all those scores, not default or not confirmed. Dan, can you confirm my idea?
pack rat in a rat pack
Thanks Dan!
(you can now remove long link, it wraps this page all funny)
Watched the other peterpak inp there...1,585m...wow! This guy sure knew where to get items and rides. Good play!
Funny things happened at later waves, suddenly at wave 49 I noticed that timer didn't work anymore but was laways zero. Other strange things started happening after that: At couple waves there weren't any enemies, couple waves they were extremely slow, enemies were sometimes in positions that they shouldn't be(pic)...Fun stuff, sadly it was game over on wave 63.

Yes, I pasted the link to the cache page so that you might find it easily because it is a Japanese page. The TJT wrote: (you can now remove long link, it wraps this page all funny)
I Edited.
hmm, what was that hisa score that he had here once? wasn't that 14.2 million? that was a near perfect type of score.
if 14.2 was right, then yeah, I can't see someone tweaking out another 700k.
wonder what you get for bonus if you happen to hit 100% hit though....has anyone ever gotten the 100% on a stage to see if some super big bonus?
