ORIGINAL POST:
Uhm, first of all I hope this thread is ok with the mods/admin, lock it with no mercy if otherwise!

Anyway, on Arcade Extreme (the italian reference about the arcade gaming) we're thinking about a Guwange contest, but we need players. Less then 10 makes a tournament quite useless, you know. Anyway, the goal of the tournament will be reach the highest possible score in the west in two months, but not only. We'll have top tiers and low tiers from the beginning (ie if you're a beginner you'll be a low tier, if you are a well known player or have experience on the game, you'll be a top tier). Both low and top tiers will compete for the top prize (100 euro, courtesy of Nev), low tiers will compete for the secondary prize (20 euro, courtesy of LUN), so everyone will have a goal to reach.
We'll have the rules ready in a few days, they won't be discussed in public to avoid confusion & drama. You can accept the rules or not, it's your choice

But basically there will be something like 3 checkpoints (3 pre-selected days) to post your stuff. During a checkpoint you must show an .inp (wolfmame, we'll prepare the right version "ready to use") or a video of your run (just in case you play with PCB). Before or after a checkpoint you can post whatever you want, even nothing.

This is the thread in which we're discussing (italian only, at the moment):
http://arcade-extreme.forumfree.net/?t=15113310
a new thread will be opened for the beginning of the contest.

Any interest? We need to know if someone is interested in order to know if we should actually start this thing or not

Hm, Guwange is in my plans (close counter), this tournament can be good training.
I'm sure, BBH will show his Guwange skill.

what skill, I seriously haven't played the game in many years :\

honestly, nowadays I hate playing shooters that put the focus on chaining, and Guwange makes you keep a chain through THE ENTIRE GAME... so I'm not really motivated to start playing again. I'll think about it.

What is "chaining", not losing powerups?

what skill
When we (in Poland) talk about Guwange we always say word: BBH.

PS. I tried Makyou Senshi yesterday and died on first stage, but I know -> I have skill for this game. I watched my replay from MARP and I can say Oh My God! :D

I think contest is too long. 1 or 1.5 month is enough.

BBH: think about it in a positive way ;)
Des: yes it's long but it won't be so full. Probably there will be a checkpoint every two week (so a total of 4) in which you can post official scores. If you want, during dead times you can easily put some time on other games and concentrate again on Guwange when the next checkpoint gets near!

I'm sure it will be a good battle between the top tiers. Too bad Gemant won't play again...

1. Autofire must be enabled?
2. Can I play without autofire?
3. Can I enable autofire in wolfmame options, not in game settings?

4. Where we send recordings (inp or video files)?

4. Where we send recordings (inp or video files)?
1 - no.
2 - yep!
3 - Oh yes, if you find it better. Autofire is a key of this game.
4 - an .inp can be attached to a post in the AEX forum. About the videos: you need to host your vid on something like megaupload I think. Every vid will be upped to the AEX server by us, like every .inp, so the final chart will have all the links to the runs you need ;)

I'll update the rules later!

This game is evil creature :D
After one day of playing and watching replays when I close eyes for a while - I see coins, when I go to sleep - I see coins. Interesting what will be after 2 months 8O
