New rules in the Challenge of The Virtual Dungeon, many games

Post by Chufoglu »

We have decided to change the rules, so that it is easier that somebody sends cooperative games. They can be sent to gauntleteando@yahoo.es for anyone of the games that we have selected like cooperative representing arcades in different genres, recorded in wolfmameplus in anyone of the versions between 0.101 and 0.106, both included. The games are the following ones:

-Gauntlet.
-Gauntlet 2.
-Dark Seal.
-Xybots.
-Mario Bros.
-Bubble Bobble.
-Double Dragon.
-Golden Axe.
-Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom.
-Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara.
-Blasteroids.
-Donpachi.
-Pang.
-Rampage.
-Toobin.
-Dynablaster/Bomberman.
-Trog.

The rules are:

-Games of 2, 3 or 4 players.

-1 credit by player, of course.

-All the players begin simultaneously.

-We will put in our page the best games, in the downloads section. We will take into account the level reached by all the alive players, but also the sum of all the scores.

-There is no limit date.

We are sorry if your favourite game is not included. We can not put all the games of MAME. We think this is a good selection of the most important cooperative arcades in different genres.

Sorry for the english.

I believ golden axe to be balanced for one player and not two. other then that these are very good choices.

Here are my suggested additions.

Rainbow Islands
Bubble Symphony
Smash TV (this can be cleared with one credit per player. m and someon else almost did it in real life i had to use one quarter extra, he only used one)
Cadash (4 player play woudl be nice but i dont' think it's doable. :( )
WWF Superstars (a tw player coop superplay of this game is something to behold. read the chatlist for how you are supposed to play it wth a player helping you.)
Vs. Ice Climber (hey you include mario bros you GOTTA give the nod to this one too)
In the shooter camp you GOTTA include the first 2 player simultaneous shooter...
SALAMANDER.

and from the really old games pile.

SPace DUel (linked mode) THis owudl be awesome.
and, jus tfor the heck of it, add in Joust. The palyer interaction here makes thing sinteresting.

good additions! don't you get more potions when you play two players with golden axe? you could display those cool spells that no one in their right mind would save up for when going for points... I think there is always a reason to add another "clone" of game play if you have the resources to manageme the games.

I haven't really looked at the state of mamenet at all or if it still exists, but it would be nice to have coopoerative recordings of two players (potentially playing on different contintents) to make recordings of them fighting against each other say for street fighter and the like. That would be awesome to watch, strategies of human against human instead of human vs computer.

now that would be a Knockout tournament to remember that required mamenet for one of the games!

Playung 2 player in godlen axe cripples your score because the game does not add any additional enemies, and gives no multiplayer score bonus.

All the available points are divided between the two players, depending on who gets the kill.

There is a potential bug that could be exploited to increase scores tremendously, though, and possibly even more so in a two player game if planned properly.

I will explain it in Regulation play.

Yes, it is confirmed. The two player game can have a higher total score between the two players then a one player game, if the scoring bug is abused. On levels that give more than one potion in the bonus stage, you can add one more extra KO to the first multi-ko by using the second player to use one of the magics.

Additionally, it may be possible to sneak the level 1 potions further to the left in a 2 player game, enabling a much more impressive multi-ko then is possible when playing alone.

And of course we can't forget the extra KO that the second player gets for free by joining in (one potion)

So 2 player max total exceeds theoretical 1 player maximum.

Probably in the future we will put more games, Space Duel can be nice like a cooperative old game.

I did not know Gain Ground, seems to be interesting
