Sounds good, the fastness...destructor wrote:One thing is excellent in this game - sound. But game is crap. Too fast on later levels.
But otherwise, i just have to complain:
1.Neo Geo 97
2.Neo Geo 96
3.Gaelco 96

I'm sorry, I can imagine that a lot of people have more time to play on Saturday. But we do need a brief period of time after each round to be able to confirm all the last-minute scores, and verify everything's right before posting the final results. :\ As long as nothing gets delayed, each round will start on a different day of the week... which has its upsides and downsides, definitely.Nanni wrote:but eventually the pause betwin this round and the next will be saturday? thi is a sad thing...
Yes, I'm aware that you have to complain in every single round...The TJT wrote:But otherwise, i just have to complain:

Very fucked.
For what it's worth, I'd like to point out that although the qualifier and round 1 games were Neo-Geo games, they were completely different games made by different developers (Saurus and ADK respectively).
Yes, the first three games were all released around the same time frame, there's no denying that. But the primary goal with the games in this tournament (and I may be guilty of forcing my view of this on the other coordinators but whatever), has been to pick relatively obscure games that relatively few people have mastered (Shock Troopers being an exception of course, although then again I wasn't competing). We're more concerned with finding games that haven't been played to death in a varety of genres, and we look for the best candidates in each genre. If said candidate happens to be from the 90's, then so be it. Should we throw out a perfectly good game because it's too new, in favor of a much worse game from the late 70's/early 80's, simply because it's older?
It's like Barry said, I hate it when people entirely base their views on a game by when it was released. Every time period of games has their fair share of great games and clunkers. Of course in a site dealing with MAME, everyone has some appreciation for the "retro" games, even if everyone's opinion of what "retro" is differs. I'd also like to point out that even though Over Top and Maniac Square were both released in 1996, their gameplay is relatively simple. Over Top is a very uncomplicated driving game, and Maniac Square is basically Columns with power-ups. Neither of these games really scream "state-of-the-art" by 1996 standards... so why is the date such a bad thing?
I fully expect people to get frustrated and complain about the games (especially with this one, haha :X), but you have been complaining nonstop. It really makes me wonder why I bothered to do anything for this tournament if there's going to be this constant stream of whining... and more importantly, it makes me wonder why you even bother to participate in it. It's one of those things that I really shouldn't let get to me...
