After making Cinematronics a success with such classics as Armor Attack and Rip Off, both of which he designed and programmed, and Star Castle which he also designed, Tim Skelly was one of the first videogame designers to have any name recognition at all. Prior to this, companies were loath to give any credit to their developers in order to keep them from gaining any bargaining leverage with respect to salary. Designers would sometimes even go to the extreme of hiding their name in their games, unknown to their employers.
Anyway, after leaving Cinematronics, Skelly was commissioned by Gottlieb to design several games. Reactor was the only such game to be released, he also created Screwloose, and Insector for them, which never existed as more than prototypes.
