Paperboy (all sets)

Post by mahlemiut »

Doesn't playback, losing sync about Saturday (I think).

Many of Donut's recent Paperboy inps don't playback either. Most fail near the end of the first game or at the beginning of the second.

Which also begs the question - Since when have we allowed multiple games in one inp?

Since this:

Since most of you seem to be complaining about this game, I've decided to split it 4 ways. Cool You were never required to submit one INP with three games, but to remain competitive that is what players tended to do. Paperboy itself will remain the Grandslam score (sum of Easy, Medium, Hard). You must play each once for a total of three plays in the INP. For those of you that can't stand the thought of playing three times in a row, you can now play each one individually. Rolling Eyes My opinion is that you've just given Donut 300 easy points, but alas that is another topic. Wink (continues...)
This is an exception though.

Actually, I think it would be ok to include 3 separate inps for grandslam score, submitting again same inps youve submitted for HW,MR and ES...But then again that would raise question if we need grandstand score at all(easy LB points for submitting already submitted inps).
Grandslam score was originated because there were not splits for ES,MR and HW. Plus because TG scores were grandslam.

For the grandslam scores, I think that's fine, but does seem silly (and a waste of server space/bandwidth) to upload the same inp 4 times.

Doesn't help playback either, when you can't watch much past one game (if you're lucky).

my question is, why do we have splits for the three difficulties AND the grand slam score? It's a bit redundant, especially when it leads to submitting the same [large] recording to the server over and over. We should either have the three separate splits, or just have grand slam only... but not both.

Why even have the grandslam score at all? I think having the three courses split is the way to go. Get rid of the grandslam.

I'd say get rid of the grandslam score, since marp scores can't be compared with TG ones anyway(mame gives more extras at current defaults). It would be too late? to change marp settings to TG only at paperboy?

Would be nice to hear Donut's and Pat's opinions too.

Nice picture! Was wondering when that one would show up on the net!

Simple solution is to remove the Grand Slam score. True no other game has it, so why the execption here. Well I'm all for removal, but because the 3 games total had been the way the scoring had been up to that point in 2002. Think special rules....

It's impossible to play 3 perfect games in a row for ES, MW, HR... so it seems logical to remove GS. I beleive TG rules state you have 24 hours to compile your 3 game total, but this cannot be enforced. Phil's total of 1M+ I'm certain was achieved over a period of weeks, maybe months!

The settings for the one in the picture above were: 3 to start, extras @ 15K (NOT @10K), difficulty @ very hard, (NOT easy).

Donut you should come up to Funspot next year and see how you do with these settings on this machine with off center steering.

Because it's listed ingame?
...Nah, I think most fair is to remove GS...Since Donut's couple scores don't even playback at grandslam, were not loosing much :( So fire at will Pat.
Also same time you could * spacewar.zip(other thread)

Last time played original at 2001, so even off centered -I envy you! :)
