so you're saying it would be better if one person can play it back? The argument against this (or for that at least two people must play something back) is that there is a much greater chance (if one person plays something back) that the playback in question could have been a fluke and may not happen consistantly. This can hapen if two people get it to playback but it's much less likely.
Remember also, the zeroed recording is not deleted. In the marp entry, a pointer to the playbackability board message is entered so even the people that couldn't play it back could refer to the post to determine how one person got it to playback. Then, if they can play it back with this information, they can be the 2nd person to play it back correctly and then the recording could be reinstated (as long as the original poster states they can also play it back which should be a given.)

That's for sure, when roms change you're boned. I'll never get to see BBH's Shock Trooper recordings, grumble. The TJT wrote: 3. In theory, older a recording gets, harder it's to playback.

I'm saying that it would be better if recordings weren't zeroed when somebody can playback.Chad wrote:so you're saying it would be better if one person can play it back?
I think one person who got it working should be enough to prevent the zeroing. (*)
Ok, this is new to me... are you sure this can happen?Chad wrote:The argument against this (or for that at least two people must play something back) is that there is a much greater chance (if one person plays something back) that the playback in question could have been a fluke and may not happen consistantly. I have never come across a recording that wouldn't do the same thing every time.
If this is true it is a serious MAME bug because emulation should be deterministic!

I can't even playback my own recordings on this computer since Windows XP doesn't like DOS versions.The_Pro wrote:That's for sure, when roms change you're boned. anyway, if you're interested in seeing a recording that plays back with the updated romset, here's a fairly recent one I made:

it's a pretty bad score by my standards, but it does still beat the old Gamest record at least. Seems like I have to start playing it hardcore again if I want to even think about getting back up to the 37 million range.
