Hi
I played this game with wolf 92 and to help me i wanted to see the last Locut0s replay :
http://marp.retrogames.com/inp/7/9/c/th ... wolf89.zip
I have nothing against Locut0s but i noticed that bullets from the enemy are slower than with my game on the defaut settings (i join a game with defaut settings).
I learned that settings had changed since mame 73 but is it normal that the score actually on marp are with the old default settings [Easier Settings]?
Shouldn't they be archived to let gamers play at the new settings or shouldn't marp split the game with easy and factory settings ?
It seems that this problem appears with other games like 3 wonders...
Thank you for the precision.

Agree with diablo. Don't want to delete recordings only because settings have changed. Especially for these kind of old and established games/recordings.
If there is nothing wrong with old settings, then imo we should stick to those and make special rules for the game that say what settings to use.
Sawys:
1.What are the old and new settings for the game?
2. What is the difference in gameplay -bullet speed?
3. What settings is locutos using, same or easier than Novice, BBH, GSH...?
Thx

1 - Old settings (before mame73) = Difficulty = 0 (easier)The TJT wrote:Agree with diablo. Don't want to delete recordings only because settings have changed. Especially for these kind of old and established games/recordings.

New settings (after mame73) = Difficulty = 4 (normal)
2 - In the game play, the bullet speed, the number of bullets and the ennemy's speed are increased in the new settings.
3 - It seems that everybody plays with the easier settings except zarouk who played at the default wolf89 settings (normal) - BBH told it in the description box.
Playingback Locut0s replay show that difficulty is not the default settings (4-normal) of wolf89 - it's the same as the other one
I want to add that for some games like bombee if i remember well, a special rule has been edited cos game was easier (becos of a bug) :
"You must use MAME 0.75 or later for this game - its emulation was incorrect before, causing stuck balls [er...

But this other example is the proof that you could change all scores to 0 :
RULES FOR 'liblrabl'
Because the latest defaults are harder than the earlier ones, MAME 37 beta 16 or later only.

Remember that if you decide to edit a rule like this other games are concerned and i will give you the list that is in jvrm's site
We made a split for the game with settings before w73 (Easy Settings) and after w73 (Factory Settings)
The other choice is, like you propose it, to write in the special rules that we could use difficulty 0 to play at this game because of a changing of settings but finally the rule for liblrabl is to delete, no ?
Yes, same thing for 1941jThe TJT wrote:One more question:
Same thing with clone 1941j ?
(I'll come up with special rules on monday, gone for weekend. It will be ok to play using older, easier settings...Incase your fingers are burning for 1941 meanwhile...)

Code: Select all
Difficulty changed at MAME73 from 0 to 4. You are still allowed to play using older, easier difficulty:

difficulty 0
life bar (more slowly)
bullet's speed (very slow)
initial vitality (3 bars)
