Elections 2004 - Who should vote? Poll - Round 2

Post by gameboy9 »

OK - poll #1 didn't do it - nobody got a majority. Idea #2 is eliminated because it had the least votes. (1)

So I ask once again... who should vote? Choose your doom wisely.

You once again have seven days to vote. If no majority, 0 votes and the least votes over 0 are eliminated, then we vote again.

Idea #1 - Keep the rules as is
Idea #3 - Anybody who's submitted a recording prior to July 1
Idea #4 - Same as #3 + minimum of 10 total of forum postings and/or submitted scores over the last year.

If current rules would been mentioned, then option 1 wouldn't get any votes...

You have to have 60 recordings + submitted before July + you have to submit at october and november...or something like that. Bad rules, I can easily be non-submitting at two months (yet, I am quite active marper).

Ummm, will try today make 1M at Tron set 4, which I was going to do anyway. Old chip, different cycles and some different "early" levels. If I somehow can't do it, will submit crap instead.

ok so let's see...changes to the Lb to try and discourage uploads that are done just for the sake of a few LB points.

Ok, so now instead of that we have gamers submitting semi-bogus play for games to MARP just to "earn" the right to vote? cmon.

Ok, I will take an hour and play ten 6 minute games...don't care what score I get. One 5-6 minute play for 10 different games...killing my men off after the 5 minutes....figure that's "good" enough.

It's flawed no matter which way you address it.

IMHO, activity in any form is all that is needed. Heck, many submit a lot of recordings, yet rarely read or post to these forums or #marp so have little to no clue about various issues.

A friend comments on some poll in the forums so then they check out that poll and cast their vote without participating in the discussion etc.

Someone not submitting scores but regularly active in the forums is more in touch with MARP and casting votes for changing rules for specific games or perhaps even how MARP works to a degree.

It's flawed from just a post count also cuz someone could just have a bunch of bogus replies in threads that aren't really participation..but just satisfying their quota so they can vote.

Yeah Rick, I know where you're coming from. But at the end of the day you will find more or less the same people voting. Even newer players who are eligible to vote might not even bother to vote. And I don't really think the 'flaw' in the voting procedure will be abused. If it is , well then it's a case of an isolated ass-hole.

I don't think there is a need to worry about 'voting eligibility abusers' ( if they actually exist ) dictating how MARP is run etc....

Just watch out for anyone from Florida. They have some strange voting eligibility shit going on over there.....

Btw...I voted for idea#4.

Cheers,

OK - a majority has been reached. The assistant web maintainer is requested to change the rules appropriatly:

Anybody who's submitted a recording prior to July 1 and has achieved a minimum of 10 total of forum postings and/or submitted scores over the last year UP TO THE TIME OF ELECTION will be able to vote.

Nominations begin on November 15. Be prepared....... dun dun dun!
