Elections 2004 - who should vote?

Guess what folks? Elections 2004 is coming!

So it's time. Write down who should vote. Currently, it's 1% of all MAME games (there's like 4000 or whatever, so 40 submissions), then at least one submission in October and November. This will be idea #1.

Write down your ideas. You have five days to submit an idea, and then all reasonable ideas (probably most of them) will be voted on in an election-style vote until there's a majority-vote winner.

THERE IS ONLY TO BE DISCUSSION ABOUT WHO SHOULD VOTE IN THIS THREAD - everything else should be taken elsewhere.

idea #2 Anyone who has posted at the MARP forums this year , before the vote date. Perhaps at this point in time , in order to avoid new accounts in a bogus effort to throw the poll.

B. Eligibility to vote:

1. Any first recording created after July 1 of the election year are not allowed to vote.

2. Any people remaining must have submitted recordings for at least 1 % of the total number of MAME games in order to vote.

3. Any people remaining must have submitted at least one recording in the months of October and/or November in order to vote.

4. Exceptions to vote can be petitioned to any editor. They must vote immediately on the petition. If the petitioner receives a majority vote of the editors, the exception is granted. Editors can immediately grant petitions at any time by a majority vote.

5. The editors have a right to reject the voting rights of any individual by a 2/3 vote of all editors. Any ruling of this nature can be overruled by a 2/3 vote of the general public. 

The first requirement is that a member must have submitted their first recording prior to July 1 of the year in question.

My idea is that this be the only requirement.

To refresh memories:
Last year (actually early this year) 8 people total voted for Regulation Coordinator. 6 people total voted on the editors' confidence vote.

#3 is ridiculous. Ok, so inactive for a mere 2 months and you lose the right to vote? cmon.


anyway, I think just #1 isn't enough

I think a requirement of something along the lines of a minimum of 10 total of forum postings and/or submitted scores for that fiscal year is reasonable.

If someone hasn't been active for over a year, then they shouldn't get to vote.

However, I think it doesn't necessarily require scores....just activity. Someone posting to the forums is certainly active.

I am inactive in terms of score submissions...but am active in these forums..so actually am more current with what is going on at MARP versus someone just submitting scores and doing nothing else.
