Hyper Sports NVRAM

i think you guys answered my question as YES even though you said no. when i meant both players scored the same olympic score i meant they did exactally the same things, the player playing with out the nvram actually placed the pole in the right position or did the exact same moves to get the mole score but didn't really get it because they didn't have the right starting nvram. so if they did exactlaly the same moves, the player recording with out the nvram would actually get the mole scores if the recording was adjusted for mole timing and playedback with an nvram. Is that right?

With the question worded that way I believe the answer is YES. In your original question you said Player 2 was "not playing for moles with out an nvram", which made me think that Player 2 wasn't bothering to try and get moles (and therefore playing the pole vault differently) but Player 1 was trying.Chad wrote:i think you guys answered my question as YES even though you said no. when i meant both players scored the same olympic score i meant they did exactally the same things, the player playing with out the nvram actually placed the pole in the right position or did the exact same moves to get the mole score but didn't really get it because they didn't have the right starting nvram. so if they did exactlaly the same moves, the player recording with out the nvram would actually get the mole scores if the recording was adjusted for mole timing and playedback with an nvram. I'm pretty sure that your current score doesn't have any effect on the gameplay (it doesn't get progressively harder based on a higher score, just based on round and event). But, without actually trying it with some sort of hacked INP its difficult to say with 100% certainty.

Nice score Adi. Thinking about coming out of 'retirement'
I just gotta get me fingers working again...
Rick: for information regarding Kelly K's score, if you can get in touch with Darren Harris , he is the one who has recently been in touch with Kelly. He'll have some answers for you.
Cheers,
AL

My recent recording doesn't play back correctly without the exact nvram I used - that was in wm83mahlemiut wrote:I seem to remember that NVRAM doesn't cause playbackability issues with Hyper Sports - ie: you could playback an INP recorded without NVRAM, using NVRAM and it'd still playback, just with a different score. This was a looooong time ago, and I'm unsure if this is still the case.
TJTs 447k plays back with or without his nvram - I haven't tried it with 'any' nvram tho....
If there's a tape of KK getting the record I'd love to see that

AL you should get playing - 450k @ 50 swimming without NV?! OUCH

dskys, your upload says you recorded with mame83 which is not Wolfmame. While you're editing that you could also put the correct nvram in the zip file and perhaps a short readme describing how someone can replay the inp eg. "copy hyperspt.nv to the nvram folder and use the -allownvram switch". Then reupload the whole shebang.
No wonder nobody can play it back as it stands!
Cheers.

Very disappointing decision, politics is more important than what players like.
It was not only about score.
Now playing pole first round will require only getting as high as possible, there is no skill in that. Good timing at pole is the most essential way to get points at HS.
What comes to score, you can't compete at Marp and TG same time now, since there will propably be playback problems.
My score of 447010 playsback to 416010 without any nv. Without nv, mame36 lists all records as 0,00. Most mame versions use default records, with those mame versions and no nv my score would be one thousand higher...That inp does not playback with default nv/records though.
I feel an essential part of the game is taken away.
I have no fun displaying such score that it never really was.

Jon,
Nice to hear from you!
Hey, we also toured the UK. Mainly Blackpool and parts of London.
I say "we", as in two Irish lads.
We thought we were the best until we ventured into some arcade in Blackpool, were we seen some amazing records by some Scottish guys.
It turns out after all those years that I finally got in touch with one of those guys. His name is ***** *****. He asked me not to reveal his name until he wanted to do so.
I believe him. Although, as I informed him, the MAME scene is different in a way, ie controls.
What controls do you have for MAME?
I'm sure you are aware that the official World Record for Hypersports is 538k? Yeah...I know.
And apparently, the Swimming 'cheat' WAS available in arcades.....
Good records by HFX.
But to be recognised by TG, you must play solo.
Have a look at this.....
Cheers,
AL

Oh btw.....
Those jumps were acheived using non-cheating methods.(speed cheats?)
You've just gotta take my word for it.

well in truth we actually lifted a 340 but never twice in a row always to tired for the 2nd, this was 2 of us one using the 8 finger roll technique the other using the old piston left finger right finger style, pressed up to 1950-1980 cm/sec, this was peformed on a standard arcade machineAL wrote:335kg x 2?? Hey, thanks for the imput I reckon its the same scottish dudes that we met we HFX as I recall had most of the monoply in Blackpool as I recall, however JGR (from paisley, Glasgow) gave us a run for our money 21200 on skeets 5.95 on Pole 166k from a 1 rounder, there was also another Jock POL who could play, plus a Blackpool Lad -> KWW who could lift 280 kg by himself, impressive. what did you guys sign on as and did you play track & field ? and what were your pb's ?AL wrote:Jon,
