19" LCD monitor for MAME?

Post by lippsman »

Are there any monitors like this that would work. Any of the LCD's I've tried do not work very well at all. And with most of the older games the screen will not even come up. This 20" CRT has got to go!!!!

Thanks

Have you tried forcing resolutions instead of letting MAME decide what resolution to use?

If the screen doesn't come up at all it may be a hardware stretching issue.

Try using -hwstretch and -nohwstretch

Yeah, that's what I had to do for my LCD screen. The image kept going off screen with hardware stretch, even after using the auto adjustment on my monitor. >_<

What is your monitor's native resolution? Start MAME with -verbose (to get diagnostic display) and -r 1024x768 (or whatever your monitor's native resolution is). And of course try what Weehawk suggested.

Hey thanks, the no hardware stretch worked fine. Well for the games I tried. Now I just have to get used to the blocky look of everything, but if anyone follows my high scores, those games look blocky anyway  Nothing before 84.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Now did I mention I have some more 10 Yard fight to play.
