Elections 2004 - Nomiations

Post by gameboy9 »

OK, it's time once again for elections, and the editors nominated myself as the coordinator... so here we go.

Nominations are needed as follows: (with incumbents in parenthesses)
1. 1 Regulation Coordinator (Pat Laffaye)
2. 1 Tournament Coordinator (Lagavulin)
3. 3 Knockout Coordinators (Phil Lamat, Donut, Kale)
4. 1 WCC Coordinator (Phil Lamat)
5. 1 Time Trial Coordinator (Gameboy9) (I know, one game and my position is already up for grabs :) )

NEW THIS YEAR: You may nominate yourself. But remember, this is a volunteer position... but if you think you can do it, go ahead and nominate yourself. If somebody else nominate you, you should still accept or reject the nomination.

NOTE: The MAME Olympiad Coordinator will be voted on next year, as the MAME Olympiad won't occur until 2005.

I'll get it started by nominating myself as time trial coordinator.

NOMINATIONS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 1, 2359 GMT.

Current nomination scoreboard: (If you're in bold, you accepted. If you're underlined, you rejected, if you're nothing, you haven't decided yet. :) )

Regulation:
Weehawk
Pat Laffaye
Buttermaker

Tournament:
Skito
Frankie
QRS
Lagavulin
Weehawk

Knockout :
Frankie
Metrackle
Destructor
Donut
Kale
Phil Lamat
Skito
Gameboy9

WCC :
Phil Lamat

Time Trial :
Gameboy9

I should note that you may run and accept more than one elected position.

(since Weehawk has been nominated for more than one position now)

Never having done either job before, I don't feel it would be wise to run any risk of being appointed both Regulation and Tournament Coordinator. I will therefore reluctantly decline the nomination for Tournament Coordinator. I do appreciate the confidence, diabolik. Thank You. :)

From "The Magnificent Seven" (a classic American western movie):

(Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen have just driven a wagon through a hail of bullets to a place of relative safety)

Steve McQueen: You elected?

Yul Brynner (showing that his cigar was struck by a bullet): Naw, but I got nominated real good.

Well... I do work 40 hours / day... driving a total of 8 hours / week... I'd rather keep myself to one position, so I'm going to respectfully reject the knockout coordination position. I'll accept the time trial position.

I nominate myself as Game of the Week coordinator ;)

Not that it's anything official, and I'm just half joking. Heh...

As for the other positions, I think the current people are doing a good enough job. And I'm not around enough to really nominate someone else.

A regulation coordinator may not be a tournament or knockout coordinator.

Mmmm... you're right ButterMaker.

I should know that... I wrote these rules... LOL!

OK then, guess you could run for more than one position, but if you get elected for two positions, you have to reject one and we'll revote.

Thanks to all those who nominated me, but I reject the nomination for the tournament coordination or any other eventual position. I'm quite far from MARP since 2 years now, and I prefer spending free time with other activities, including with my baby of 3 weeks old :)
Lagavulin,
2003 MARP Tournament Coordinator.
