Two questions.

Post by Baby Bonnie Hood »

A. Must games be recorded at a minimum speed of 90%? Will nothing below that be allowed? Because my PC can't handle Gunbird 2 perfectly; it slows down at majorly hectic moments. I plan to beat this game's first loop, but I'm not sure if it'll be accepted here with all the occasional slowdown...

2. I can't find MAME32 v0.61 (it's not up at this site); I need it to watch INP's of Gunbird 1 & 2. Is it safe to ask where I might get it, or is that taboo?

Slowdowns can give you an unfair advantage. Why would you even want to submit such a recording?

The 1st and 2nd place recordings of gunbird2 play back correctly with the official MAME versions.

It is.

There is nothing illegal in an emulator, as can be attested by Bleem! court activities. Asking about them is not illegal either. :D

Most old MAME versions can be found at mame.net. As for MAME32, mame.dk used to do that, so Google is probably the best shot at finding it.

Because I wanna make an INP proving that Gunbird 2's first loop is indeed possible to beat. I've noticed that even GB2's 1st-place INP here doesn't beat the first loop; considering the game's difficulty, I can see why. So I wanna make such an INP :D

And speaking of that 1st-place INP, I've watched it and noticed that the game played at 320x240 resolution; there was no slowdown whatsoever. That could be my solution to my problem...

Is there a way to force MAME to play at 320x240 instead of whatever resolution it feels like selecting (like 1024x768, the one with all the slowdown)?

If you do it with slowdown you're cheating.

See windows.txt of the official version for all options and the game properties menu for MAME32.
