looks like c core was used (thanks) but can't seem to playback, ryu dies at ryu every time.

When you view the replay, is the first opponent Dhalsim or Chun-Li? I did some investigating, and with the C core on, the first opponent is Chun-Li and everything plays back fine. With the C core off, the first opponent is Dhalsim, and the replay loses to the second opponent, Ryu (who shouldn't come until the 4th round).
I tested with a fresh install in a different directory, and the C core needs to be used for it to work.

this is barry's or more likely new mameplus's fault, wolf77 defaults to the ASM core as far as i can tell (there are no 68k options in my mame.ini or options but it uses the ASM core when recording and playing back, wolf76 uses the C core). i.e. if you use wolf77 to play this back it must be played back with -m68k_c_core.

Maybe I should refrain from playing games that use 68000's, so that I don't run into any more of these 68k core issues. Seems whether I have it on or off, I get these topics. WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT FROM ME?
On a side note, can we get a different game picture for this Romset, so that it clearly shows the nature of the hack? Perhaps the ridiculous column of fireballs a dragon punch leaves? It just seems, well, wrong to show a standard SF2CE image for this horrific hack.

This is why there is that little bit of text sent to the console saying which core is used.
[EDIT: Yes, it does look as though the ASM core is the default now. Fucked if I know why though. THe speed difference is negligible on any PC older than three years, and it's less accurate (it's the cause of Viewpoint crashing)]

Almost sounds good... but for the 68k core setting, which do I treat as the default, now that the default value has changed? I'm planning on continuing on using the 68k core, which was the default before. Do I want to mention that every time, or are we all going to continue treating it as the default?
well you mentioned you used no options to make the recording but since the ASM core is default for wolf77 i'm not sure how you made a C core recording with out saying -m68k_c_core. Basically if you record with no options it should playback with no options (empty mame.ini save for visual preferences that don't affect playback) and you don't have to say anything in the description.

ahhh right, ok the previous C core option in the mame.ini is NOW a setting you must include in your description becaue it is NOT the default, just don't have any options that affect playbackabilyt "set" in the mame.ini or command line and your descriptions can be empty. I..e remove the C_core setting in the mame.ini file.
