question about some games

Post by amalcut »

Hello everyone, this is my first post to MARP. So I have a few things to say and a few questions. First I would like to ask about certain games where scores can me maxed out such as X'aind Sleena and Bad Dudes. I read the previous posts about X'aind and I know about the leeching method. And Bad Dudes all you have to do is beat the game on a first credit to max out your score. So with games like these if people really wanted to, you could flood it with a bunch of ties and so many people will be tied for first place. For myself I don't really want to submit a X'aind score because everyone will be upset. And I could submit the baddudes score but whats the point.

Another question, why isn't Splatterhouse here. I know if you win the game and play it perfectly it will also result in a bunch of 1st place ties. Unless you know a certain way to play to edge someone out.

Why does double dragon crash on me, I win the game but then it screws up and I don't know how many points you get for the final boss.

I can't get pacman to work or magic sword.

Okay, thats enough for now, any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Greetings & Salutations! Welcome to MARP :) Please do enjoy your stay :D

Anyways on to your questions.. answered to the best of my ability.

1. What's the point to Bad Dudes? WELL.... True, you gotta annihalate it on Credit 1 for a maxed score... but the thing is... not everyone likes this game.. and there hasn't exactly been the most massive rush to play it either... I only started playing it a while back and I still have to practice a lot more to beat Level 4 and on....

In regards to X'aind Sleena, there are rules about the leeching technique you probably are referring to [if not, I'm surprised] so that should make maxing it out a bit more difficult.

In further regards to other games in general that COULD be maxed out, in most cases that requires a lot of time, patience and skill.. and with over 4000 games [including clones] in Mame, there's too much diversity that most people just play it and move on to the next big thing... this also prevents the endless tie scores.

Another question, why isn't Splatterhouse here. I know if you win the game and play it perfectly it will also result in a bunch of 1st place ties. Unless you know a certain way to play to edge someone out.
o.o? [Opens up Mame]

Hmm... reading the history.dat, I can understand why it would take a long while before this problem existed.. [or a Few days if Hisa romped through the game and schooled us in how to play, like he did with his SUPERB Klax scores]
Why does double dragon crash on me, I win the game but then it screws up and I don't know how many points you get for the final boss.

I can't get pacman to work or magic sword.

Okay, thats enough for now, any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Hmm... are you using the latest version when playing? [Now .72] If not, you may wish to upgrade to that and upgrade all your roms. [A friendly search through the usual sources can reveal them.. which I can't reveal for obvious reasons, but they can be found with a little prodding]

As well, I can highly reccomend WolfMamePlus when Barry upgrades it to .72. Barry has done a PHENOMENAL job with his tweaks n upgrades to it and has made it the emu of choice.

Hope I've been able to be of some assistance :) Enjoy your stay and feel free to continue asking questions and we'll be happy to continue to answer them... after all, this isn't the Mame.Net forums [soft smile]

Yeah, that works.

Wonder why the tags don't?
