I'm curious....

Post by Griphin »

I've posted the same question on the Mame message boards, and never really get a clear answer, so I'm posting it here to see if anyone can at least help me out.

It seems the more interested people get about emulating new code, they seem to forget that some of the older games still don't work properly (not from bad ROM dumps either). But is it possible that either Bandido or Zero Hour will ever work properly?!? Bandido has a sound problem (you can hear the correct sounds in the background, but there not in sync with the game). Also, Zero Hour (Universal) has the wrong colors and sound I think.

Anyhow I'm tempted to relearn older languages to get these games working 100%. But if anyone's familiar with how to correct the problems, could you please fix them?!? Thx in advance. :)

most of these problems are that no programmers aware enough of the problems or none that know how to fix the older games proly because there's lots more work to do with new games... it's hard to complain when so much is already being done, but if you think you know what to do look at the code and submit a patch. :)

I don't like to repeat myself, but Sheriff has irq probs with the DAC interface. If you don't understand it I doubt you will be able to fix that bug without studing a LOT(starting from the difference between the 8086 and the 8080,that YOU think it's the same thing)...

I'm aware that problem isn't easy to fix and let me say that AFAIK any programmer don't like to remain something incomplete, but when you work at something for months without help(i.e schematics),you don't care if there are bugs in it 'cause you are sick of it...
