MAI-N's KIKI KAIKAI record

Post by JRG »

I'm a bit puzzled about this record. I mean, it's just the repetition of the three first loops over and over again. If you're smart enough to complete the third loop (which is hard, MAI-N looses a hella lot of lives there) you can theoretically go on forever...
so why is Gamest record a humble 2.755.650? What is more this record is referred to as a 5-8 (so it's better than MAI-N's at the same stage)... 5th loop... just as hard as the second one you say, so it's hard to explain why a mighty Japanese player completes the first three stages, makes that beautiful score at 5-8 then dies... what the...
another thing: why does the loop counter stop every three stages? I mean, there's stage 1, 2, 3 then 1 again... hmm, maybe I'm too suspicious but has anyone gone beyond the third stage in the real arcade machine? Are you that sure that there's not a *real* fourth stage harder than the third one and so on?
The emulation (or the dump) doesn't seem perfect, which feeds my doubts more and more...

well, there was a thread about his recording here...

viewtopic.php?t=10134

that 2nd loop was too nutty for me as it is. Why did nobody else max out the score for Gamest? I guess nobody wanted to bother to learn how to marathon it to the point of maxing out the score back then.

Loop 4 is exactly same as loop 1 on actual machine.

many games have this feature.
Stage 5 of Crazy climber is same as 1.
Loop 5 of RAIDEN -II is same as loop 1.
Loop 37 of Gradius is same as loop 1.
Stage 256 of mappy is same as stage 1.
Round 401 of pac-land is same as .....

Gamest record is not 2.8million it is just a mistranslate of GEMANT.

Gamest did not total this game for 2 big reason.
1 10 million is easy for player like MAI-N. ( I can beleave some player can make 10 million at first play)
2 This game has endless leeching point. If you use white power at stage 8.....

Is it OK?

in my document there is this title:

奇々怪界 (ops, in this board is impossible write in japanese)

I translate this game like kiki kai kai

and the score in japan gamest record list is: 2755650

isn't this Kiki kai kai?

Sorry.
It is not mistake of GEMANT but Kurata(known as D-K)'s.

Thanks Novice. Phew! Finally I can sleep again.
And yes, that game does not require mad skillz to be counter stopped, that's why I couldn't explain that low gamest score.
