if i remember the earlier versions of mame like the one the recent replay was recorded on have the defaults set to the easiest setting whereas the more recent ones are set to normal ... I'm not sure you should allow replays with such old versions for this game

this is 100% true, i find i can't even get passed the 4th fighter with the current mame when i could easily make it to carlos in earlier mame (with out knowning ANY combos). Haze if you can guestimate which mame version the defaults are set to normal difficulty, it's definitely after mame61, i'll set up the special rule to only allow recordings after that version. PLUS now the game sound has been fixed the real scoring system is working, better to use that one.

.63 and above should be fine iirc

yep just checked the sources, default difficulty changed to normal on .63 , not 100% sure if the score was readable in that release but a recording on anything before that should be invalid on the grounds that the game was set to easy mode.

In the arcade version, is the score always on the screen? Or is the score only shown for 1/1000th of a second in bewtween rounds?

there are more things broken, besides the score only hinting itself sometiems, the messages between rounds are not being shown...

I figure that it's some sort of layer priority issue, probably the same as the time not displaying in Gunbarich.

i believe its pretty much perfect with the fixes Tour put on his page however they involve pasting half of drawgfx.c into psikyosh.c, something which Nicola doesn't approve of ;-)
