Mahjong [BET] Series

Post by Barthax »

I am looking for a little clarity reasoning for the special rules of the [BET] series of Mahjong games. There appears to be an inconsistency with this scoring system & that of the other Mahjong games. I realise that the scoring system cannot be the same, as the games work differently.

The inconsistency seems to be that other Mahjong games score the best overall score reached even though it may have resulted in a loss (and therefore no points at the end of the hand). With the [BET] series, the scoring appears to suggest that if you reach 4 credits as I have done in banana dream and go on to lose them all, your end score (for the purposes of MARP) is 0. Is this correct (in which case I need to adjust my score)?

Banana dream: http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... 00&tourn=0
Rules: http://marp.retrogames.com/index.cgi?mo ... t=bananadr

(And what is it with my inability to create urls on this board!?)

Correct ; bet games are played like in casino : you've to retire (pressing ESC) before losing your earns ... if you know a casino which pays you back even if you lose all your earns, tell me the adress :)

All is already explained on my mj page :
http://perso.club-internet.fr/plamat/mah.html

I've also explained in special rules link that bananadr is not like a lot of other bet games:
"you can play only 1 hand with 1 credit ;
if you win, you can take your earns (but game is over after that) or try to double them (if you like gambling ...) "

At least it was like that in old versions (maybe you can re-bet your earns now, I've to check)

Yes, you can now re-bet your winnings.

OK, I will delete my banana dream score. :(

Thanks for the explanation. *However*, why then are the non-[BET] games played to highest score made? If you lose a hand, you lose a hand = 0.
