? for people who have played DoDonPachi on a real machine.

I have heard from other people that MAME runs DoDonPachi slower than the actual Arcade machine. I was just wondering if any of you noticed if it is indeed slower, comparing the two.......

although I haven't actually played it for real, I do know that in the first versions of MAME where Dodonpachi was supported (I think it was introduced in m37b5?), it definitely did not slow down as much. Try it on that version and you should be able to notice a difference...

Yea, you are right. M37b5 plays it like Raine - at 60FPS. .61 plays it at 58FPS. But the question still unknown is - which is the REAL speed?

Thanks for the info, though. :) I appreciate it.

From M.T's DoDonPachi description:
It is slower an actual machine.
I think he's trying to say that it's slower in MAME.

The best way of figuring this out would be some sort of side-by-side test, where you'd have the arcade machine running alongside a PC running it in MAME.

It's entirely possible that slowdowns occur earlier than they would on the real hardware. You could always overclock the game's CPU although I wouldn't recommend trying that in a recording.

DEFCON=6

00:44:10 start the demo "after stage 12"
00:44:27 start 2-7
00:45:14 start 2nd half of 2-7.
FAILED finish the game.
and on mame. (100% speed)
00:00:00 select fighter
00:00:55 after first combo
00:01:27 alart of 1-1
00:05:31 start 1-3
00:08:23 alart of 1-3
00:10:10 start 1-4
00:13:02 alart of 1-4(keeping 100%)
00:14:30 start 1-5
00:17:50 alart 1-5

I think, mame become slower especially many bullets scene.
on the way of stage 4 and 5 become very slow even if keeping 100%.

I do not say recordings should be DQ. mame is mame and romboard is romboard.
they play on the same condition at MAME.

Um, that's pretty much what I said, wasn't it?

Upping the clock speed of the 68000 a bit would make it closer to the arcade in that case. And it's not like MAME has ever had a problem using the correct clock speed for a CPU either (look at CPS-2).

Neither.
both of their speed is much slower than REAL speed.
they have only 60%-99% speed of real machine.
especially big box zone (HIT 700-750 area of stage 1-5) has less than half speed.

but most of MARPers does not know "the speed of actual machine."
so we don't have to care about it(THE REAL).
HERE IS MAME site

And what about the speed of Raiden?

It never slowdowns it the latest MAME and I remember it did in the arcades (not as slow as it happens with MAME 0.36 but...)
