joust2 question

I don't know of any game that is split just on level selection, where joust2 falls into this category.
However, there may be support for a rules change to force a start at level 1...

Good idea. There are quite a few games that would fall into this category. However, there may be support for a rules change to force a start at level 1...
It would make for more interesting playbacks and I think would test peoples skill with the game much more by playing through the game.
Also it would be nice to see the rule to cover no warping as well. Games like toobin where you start on level 1 but then warp a couple times and bag 1,200,000 points into the bargain. (yes i'm guilty of that too!

_warping_
i disagree about warping,
since thats included AFTER you start
the game..(like in stargate)..it gives
you a bonus, but it makes it much
harder to play also..

Re: joust2 question
Hey all,
Regarding Joust 2 starting level... How about we let the rom 'joust2' stay at Twin Galaxies settings? Meaning start at any level you like, and a special rule made for the 'joust2r1' rom - Wave 1 start only. Hopefully an admin can make this happen. I submitted my first wave 1 start for 'joust2r1' and deleted the old wave 26 start game.
Hope more people start to play Joust 2, I dig it. It was a flop in the arcades BITD because it came out to late... By 1986 arcade ratz were over the early 80s Joust era games and onto newer Williams titles like Smash Tv. If it would've been released on the tails of Joust like Stargate was for Defender, I think it would've been much more appreciated. I love the game, really complex and I learn new things almost every game, pretty much all I play now-a-days... If anyone has any questions about Joust 2, I'd be happy to answer them.
1st tip I can share with everyone is this:
PTERRY WAVE START GLITCH
------------------------------------
WHAT IS IT?
At the Beginning of all waves that have a Pterry at the start, there is a glitch that sends the other enemies out BEFORE the Pterry appears making it impossible to lance standing on a ledge. If this glitch is not neutralized somehow it will continue the whole game long on every wave that starts with a Pterry.
SOLUTION
------------
I believe that by waiting aprox 20-25 seconds before coining up the game and immediately starting, this stops the glitch from happening and the Pterry appears before the other enemies as it should. My inps show this wait time if anyone wants to check it out.
Respectz,
EzE
