doesn't get passed kitana with or with out nvram, tried mame32 and cli versions with sound. when you use an nvram file and say no sound it goes to a different background with kitana but still loses.

Strange! I tried it again with the file I uploaded and it works just fine. There are some strange colors when choosing the battle plan, but that was also when I recorded it. The following url shows a picture of the replay of that file:

As you can see, I really did pass Kitana ... and all the rest to. I used win2k to record the file.

Hi,

I do not have an nvram subdirectory. I read it was best to delete this folder. What the buggy colors concerns: most of the time I do not get them, just sometimes. I found the umk3.zip rom at the "mamefans" site.

24 wins, 5 losses. Perfect playback on Win XP, with sound, unthrottled at FS 11 on Win Cli.

This is rare. :)

Wow, congrats. I have never been able to get any roms from mamefans.... it always would screw up after I had waited an hour or so in queue. Good ol' irc now serves well. :)

Me myself I have also a problem with some MK replays of others. I know it's because of a different mame version they use. But this is the problem: can I use a dos version of mame in Win2k??? I can't set it up to work correctly. If it does work, please let me know.

Find and download VDMSound, which is an SB16 emulator that allows sound in DOS games. Also remember to disable any use of VESA video modes too.

I Found that program and installed it. But still I get troubles. How do I disable VESA? I'm using NVIDIA's GeForce2 GTS/GForce2 Pro. Look at the following url:
http://users.skynet.be/am044448/MAME/DosProblem.htm
The first command results in an expected error. But the second also, even though I did set the "-tweak" option. It results in "Cannot display in this video mode". (Just for information: I did not choose any sound [=0], just to go step by step). :(

if it's anyhelp i tried VDMsound with XP and had no luck what soever, and actually got confirmation from the author that it's not going to be much help in getting dos mame to work. The bad news: i think after i installed it, tried it, then gave up and uninstalled it, it appeared to make less games work with OUT sound in dos mame. I.e. i get more errors than i thought i used to before i had installed it... but maybe someone with more optimism in microsoft might get it to work ;)

There are VESA settings somewhere in mame.cfg.

vesamode = vesa3 <-- is what is set in my mame.cfg

I guess setting this to 'no' will disable VESA modes.
