no score saving in mame 060

help,this is driving me nuts.
i have a new pc running windows me,but now some games(gunbird,rtype leo,amongst many others)will not save scores even though they are supported on the latest scores dat file.why is this?,is it a bug in mame 060,is it the windows me operating system,is it a dat file bug/problem,is it my duron processor(the games run fine,but some will not now save scores).
any ideas anyone,this is spoiling my fun big time !

There is two versions of mame win60 ; the second fixed some problems occuring with the first ; maybe scores saving was one of them and maybe you've downloaded the first buggy version ?

Another thought: you downloaded the latest hiscores.dat, no?
